There's been some real dumb youtubers and instagrammers but I think it's unfair to lay the behavior of people seeking attention both negative and positive as a career to all zoomers, everywhere.

I think early on there may have been parties where people deliberately exposed themselves to someone with covid in order to get it, thinking they'd be immune after. On the other hand, that might just've been an urban legend.

It's an urban legend. Just try to find a story about it that lists information that could be fact checked like the name of a reporter or a newspaper. That's the big tell and I have yet to see any story on the subject that's done so.

I'm into this if for no other reason (and there are other good reasons) that there's a self-contained strip with a bit of storytelling. One of JAM's sins that rarely gets discussed among all of the other awful things about him is his pacing - he'd take 5-10 strips to say something that could be said in 2 or padded reasonably cleanly to 3 for the slower serialization recaps or overlaps. The result is just huge stretches of identical close-ups and strips that said literally nothing. I could actually even forgive the tracing or weird hand drawn art if the stories happened at a reasonable pace.

Well, *that* sin is shared with every syndicated serial daily story strip I can think of. The syndicates actively push for it, because they think newspaper readers will need it to keep up with the story, plus it's a strain for a writer to come up with so much material. Dumbing of Age (which has no syndication pressure) avoids it but with this annoying whiplash where the setup from one day is frequently canceled in the next. If Rivera can actually avoid that she's a genius. IMO the best storyline strips are the twice or three times a week webcomics.

To be honest I wasn't sold on this based on the details given so far. Mark's not a professional wildlife guy? Cherry's a small business owner? Eh...

But this is an excellent introduction. Contextualizing Mark Trail's job as if these were the Sunday strips makes a lot of sense. Because of course Mark would be an online guy today. Where else would you be able to stream your PSAs?

I think we talked a lot about this during the Dr. Camel storyline - making Mark Trail a YouTuber instead of a magazine writer is such an easy, natural, change and it makes a world of difference - and James was using it for the BAD GUY'S backstory.

Mark trail would hit this pace to a new order of magnitude even compared to Mary worth or Rex Parker. They stood in one place talking about vargo's corpse for two weeks. And it's supposed to be something of an adventure strip?
