Speaking as a feminist who is child free by choice, if a woman wants to get married and have kids, that's great. It doesn't make her more of a ditz or less valid than a woman like me who chose to go to work and not have kids and live for myself. The whole point is that women should be able to CHOOSE which route she takes. And I'm sure we've all heard the sexist joke about the pretty girl just going to college so she could get her MRS degree, but whatever, that's a choice too. Stefani is a pain in the rear end for a lot of reasons, but I don't appreciate the "stay at home moms are stupid and they suck" attitude that a lot of people take. Luann tends to be a very Family Values strip, so I didn't expect to see it here.

And because I do hate Luann and tend to give absolutely no benefit of the doubt on interpretation as I read, the GoComics comments tend to be a decent barometer of how Team Evans want you to interpret their work. So here's today:

She wants to be a mom! What a stupid idiot!

This is just stupid. We know Dustin only wants to ask her out, maybe see if they click on the date. He's not asking her to marry him and have his children, so this is a complete overreaction. Skelley is such a hateful boomer.

I remember reading these strips as a kid and it was in Norwegian but they didn't bother to come up with a substitute. Neither I nor any other Norwegian would have known who the hell Betty Crocker was.
It's only years later that thanks to the Internet I can find the answer.

But you failed to take into account the fact that literally anything a woman does is inherently stupid and shallow, which is why Luann, the only good one, never makes any decisions or does anything. It's not the particular choices they make but the fact that they've made them at all that Greg objects to.

sitting on a toilet.

so this is way too close to how I lost my job last year. My last week started with rumours that our location was closing "soon" and our manager was MIA ('sick' and wouldn't answer our calls/texts/emails for days). We stopped getting deliveries full stop and the giveaway was when another location's manager came and took a bunch of our supplies without telling us why and avoiding eye contact. On Friday our manager comes in and tells us everything is fine and business as usual. When I finished my shift he corners me and tells me we were permanently closing that night. Zero notice for any of my coworkers that had family and kids.

tldr: head office is evil and corrupt no matter where you're working.

No. Stewart is just an empty middle manager. He doesn't make the decisions. It'd mean nothing unless you left a boardroom awash in the blood of the C-Levels.

There's something about the layout of the Tinkersons that makes every comic feel like seconds of silence pass inbetween every line. Maybe it'd help if the panels were arranged horizontally instead of 2x2, but I think the artist just has too much real estate to work with. Maybe they should be doing 3-panel strips. The above, you could probably do in 1 or 2 panels.

It used to be all horizontal before comicskingdom updated. It still is on ArcaMax. Some of the latest tweets by @tinkersons, by which I mean February to June 2019, is a mix of horizontal and vertical.
I'd say Bill Bettwy doesn't care and it's not worth thinking any deeper into it than that.

Yeah, out of all the annoying stuff in Dustin, this running 'joke' gets up my nose the most. Women just don't respond like that when a guy makes a pleasant, respectful approach to them. Perhaps Dustin's parents transmit their opinion that Dustin's utterly worthless by telepathy?
