And for comic-related content, have this classic. Sad Sack originally ran in Yank, a weekly magazine for the Army, and later became part of the Harvey comic book stable.

As you might remember, Crywood Inc. was heavily in debt and the other shareholders forced Isopaljo to work for Nappila, which was a huge humiliation for a guy like him. Nappila, however, was formed by Anja Koskinen and other former employees of Juniper which was nothing but a tool to make a quick (illegal) buck and left to fall apart. Calling some kind of "original ownership" on those grounds is pretty rich even for Isopaljo.

Oh, same here. I think we take the Curtis cast designs for granted since they've been around more or less without changing for ages, but they're really very well done. I went looking for an image of his friend Gunk (how long since we've seen that guy?) and found this magnificent panel:

It really was a perfect piece of casting.

Yeah like, this

is pretty rough to look at. But I also get the artist and writer is producing 7 strips a week and sometimes you just take a swing at it and keep on trucking, otherwise you'll drive yourself insane. It's not hard to see why so many strips are cut/pasted so heavily.

The writing has REALLY picked up, though. Once we moved out of the "introduction/eye poking" first phase and into proper serialization.

I'm in the same boat. The characters are all drawn like they're played by Vincent D'Onofrio's character in Men in Black but there's a plot and that plot is being advanced on a more than quarterly basis!

That puts it so far ahead of the other soap opera strips like Rex Morgan and Mary Worth that cut-and-paste like hell but still can't cough up more than one plot point a month.

There was an animated spinoff of Rhoda which was a spinoff of The Mary Tyler Moore Show called "Carlton, Your Doorman." Lorenzo (who, true to his name, wrote some TV theme songs as well) voiced the doorman in Rhoda, so then, there was this (edit: I'm not linking to it). It's not good, or particularly funny, and a lot of bad things happen to animals. I have no idea what was going on here, culturally.
