I like this part. Modesty and Willie don't usually kill if they can help it, but saying goodbye like this really adds to the weight of their decision to go and deal with Brodsky to save Tarrant.

Looks to me like they waited until they're out of range from retaliation before telling the planet they adopted that they're more or less abandoning it. Mars should just hurl boulders until it hits these idiots' ship.

My first time telling my boss that he was not going to get what he wanted was when I was working fast food and gave my two weeks notice, and he told me that was unacceptable, that he was too busy to find a replacement now, and I needed to work at least five weeks while he found someone. (I'll remind you that this was fast food)

He didn't appreciate that I'd already made plans and wasn't going to be in town in 2.5 weeks.

I once worked at a convenience store while I was in school. We went through several managers and the last one I had to deal with sucked. I had let her know in January that I needed a specific Sunday of in April and she kept telling me to remind her when the date got closer. I did and she scheduled me anyway. I told I was not going to show up and she said that if I didn't, not to come back at all.

I ended up swapping the time with a co-worker. The following Friday, I'd gotten another equally lovely part-time job. I was scheduled to work for her that Friday and I called her FROM the new job. She used a tone of voice that one would use to comfort a five-year old who had a boo-boo and asked me what was wrong. I told her that I was at my new job and wouldn't be coming back. She just hung up on me and had to work my shift (5pm to midnight).

When I went back to get my last check, she just tossed it on the counter and walked away.

Hilariously, she came by the new place I was working. I gave her a polite smile and it pissed her off.

Don didn’t really make a secret of him being an ex-con. If Chip was planning on spreading that news around it’s kinda nonsensical.

Almost a shame that the only way Retail can be this good is with a storyline it can't repeat. So good. Good touch in the dialogue too, even Stuart can't pretend he actually did anything to inspire loyalty.
