I vaguely recall it was something about the record companies not wanting mp3s or m4as being directly usable as ringtones, cause they'd lose a revenue stream?

i remember using let's get it on as a ringtone in college. i also used some mountain goats song, i wanna say jaipur but i don't remember. in grad school i used 16 shells from a .30-06. i had the law and order noise as my text ring tone. now i use whatever the default is for the three times a year i take it off silent wow it's hard to imagine janitoring ringtones in the year of progress 2022

I used to have the pager sound from GTA3 for my ring tone. Now I just have the ringer turned off because I don't want to talk to anyone.

I had one of those Sony phones that could record short audio clips and use those as ringtones but the quality was awful also it had a jog dial which was a way superior form of input than anything else at the time

i used mulatto butts from archer as a ringtone for a long time. i converted it myself, and previous poster was correct it is as simple as renaming an .m4a to .m4r and popping it into itunes. i used this for my text tone when my friend texted me for years: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FfhNDtSqPRA&t=31s

lol I used to have all sorts of dumb poo poo on my old Nokia as message alerts and ringtones, and its all still zipped up on my dropbox from 2013. https://www.dropbox.com/s/bnh6s6bqngz2ogk/phonemisc.zip?dl=0 the ringtone from CRANK got a lot of use as I recall. edit: lmao I forgot the beautiful_day.mp3 from Live & Let Die was my morning alarm sound for the longest time.

Jim Silly-Balls posted:imagine bedazzling some random andoird phone and going “yeah this is worth $35k now” if you go to places like Saudi Arabia or Dubai then there are shops who specialise in making one-off tacky poo poo like this, and people with too much money and absolutely no taste lap it up. the whole point of it isn't to be good, just to be really expensive for no reason so that some spoilt failson can buy it because he can.

we have to use WebEx teams (lol) and the ringer volume is incredibly loud no matter what you try and set it to and god it's horrible as far as I can tell the settings menu for it is actually a joke because none of them do anything, unlike WebEx where they work, or jabber where they work but get ignored until you open and close the menu so actually I would say that software from Cisco is actually funny and tech and poo poo.

I clipped the "yeah boooooooooooooy" sound from the meme and set it as my ringtone. A couple of jobs ago, I got up to use the bathroom and got a call while in there, and when I came back my coworkers asked me why I had a siren in my phone.
