the reverse is also true. leave an unterminated coaxial cable dangling in the air and the thing acts like an antenna soaking up commercial fm/am broadcast and cellphone signals and messing up everyone’s signal on the block. cable co’s are half decent at monitoring for this and occasionally go knocking on doors.
