funy tech: has anyone noticed that spam in your gmail spam box has dropped to close-to-zero, I used to be getting 30 or 40 bits a day in there and now its 3 emails that are not spam but are always misclassified. Absolutely zero other real spam, and because the 'not actually spam' mail is in there I know Goog aren't just blanket deleting all spams now. Did some big spam provider get busted or is it a knock on from other current techworld fuckery?

I also spotted that. I'm tentatively of the opinion that it correlates with the Ukraine invasion and Russia being cut off pretty seriously?

Maybe a way to brute force test what gets through spam filters and what doesn't? Maybe broken spam bots screaming gibberish into the void?

are they just making a giant mpls with no routing between nodes?

Jonny 290 posted:lol is that bc the fiber is just basically a big ethernet LAN and they need access control? i'd imagine it's a mix of that and carry over from their older adsl infrastructure. bouncing through pppoe lets you feed a lot of accounting info into the legacy aaa systems for free. also weird is that the pppoe session (and thus all your internet traffic) has to go over vlan 201 between the router and ont. it makes for fun router configs.
