that's fair. prior to the triple outbreak at the office, it was pretty decent going in for two days a week when i start at 5. even with increasing traffic 5~1 is still fairly ideal for commute times. sadly, this was just a precursor to getting everyone else back into the office and we already know how that went.

that said, now that i've tasted the forbidden fruit, i'm never going back to an office if can help it, but i've definitely experienced that tranquility

yeah in the US i would say you rarely get tested for influenza unless you are old or somehow very at risk. i usually say “i have a cold” when symptoms appear but if that lasts for more than a day or two i assume it’s something more serious, and pre-covid the best guess for that would be “i have the flu” so if i tell you that it probably means just “long cold”

🤷🏼‍♂️

i don't think I've ever been tested for the flu since i never go to see anyone for a "cold" so idk if I've ever had it or not

i get a shot every year tho

I dont think its really controversial to state that anyone driving a motorcycle louder than, say, 100db at 10 feet should be summarily executed by the most painful and expedient method.

no but you see they are the protagonist of reality

you wouldn't want to have them get run over on account of somebody not hearing them coming would you?

then the world would lose the protagonist of reality. and that would be terrible

Go to the Rite Aid website and lie and say you’re immune compromised, if you’ve got one near you. No one will ask once you show up.

There is no moral failure in lying to protect yourself and your family when the people in charge have made it quite clear that they don’t really care about doing their jobs anymore.

Theyr'e going to waste *everywhere*, people in the San Franciscos of the world don't qualify for a fourth shot if they're under fifty and people in other places never gave a gently caress to begin with

this is only frustrating because i just went to the doctor for my baby and when your a baby you cant really tell anyone what your problem is. so they hit with a couple of tests and one of them is a 15 minute rapid flu test.

so we certainly have the capability. but for a myriad of reasons they dont give these out to everyone.

Been wearing nothing but pajamas and sweatpants, 2 years of elasticated waistbands.

i had just been going thru my “office appropriate” ( no logos and a pockey) t-shirts looking for one that I can actually wear to the office and they all have cat claw holes in them, so I had to wear an oxford shirt like a sucker. so I guess I need sone clothes shopping anyway.

so weird. I just lost 12% of my body weight. like lost as in *misplaced* instead of lost as in dieting. i am worried I’ll find it under a couch cushion or something next week.

dutch doctors did this (well, not quite underground since it was a website) and the government got super pissed and threatened to sue.
then the govt grudgingly accepted that it might be a good idea and a few weeks later claimed credit for the whole thing.
that was a year ago.

now we're destroying millions of vaccines that didn't even make it into distribution. because paying $1 per vaccine to be destroyed is cheaper than paying $8 per vaccine to give them to the most vulnerable who are actually protesting in the streets and offering to pay themselves to get their boosters.

all of this makes perfect sense to the actual doctor of internal medicine who became minister of health halfway through the pandemic
