its less that there's some argument about it and more that when you rely entirely on FPtP in a geographically based system, you end up with two parties that are more or less the same

governor has yet to formally extend the shelter in place thingy, but apparently she received the necessary authority from the legislature yesterday as a precursor to do such. boss just told me that i can assume WFH next week as well (and beyond, i guess). curious to see how long this measure is extended for.

President Beep posted:it's loving nuts around here. we live within walking distance of my kid's school, but the parents that drive there do exactly what you describe. it's chaos. at a bunch of other schools in the area cars stack waaaay out into the street. my friends neighbor drives her kid down 1 block to sit in the car waiting for the bus, lets the kid out for the bus, then drives to work. i have seen her do this and it blew my mind.

Considering how unhelpful the federal government has been during the pandemic and leaving some governors to their own devices, it would seem to me secession is more likely than it has been in the past BUT I don't ever see that happening.
