Slaver's Bounty/Ranger HQ vault: Just out of curiosity, I turned Hallie in to the slavers. God drat there's some sweet gear in that second vault room. Holy crap. But what a price to pay. Yes but I mean the quest itself never resolved, it's still open in my journal as Perla wanting to talk to me at Ranger HQ despite her being very much a splattermark near the entrance to Colorado Springs.

The Monster Army are a good example of long term stability moderating desperate people and I will absolutely go back in time two hours to save them. Also, I really wish the cannibal barbeque was played straight and sympathetic as a major population/quest center. Like "we recognize we appear to be monsters to you but you have no idea what we want through" and just be a bunch of good people who happen to eat their dead.

Or she has another motive. Agreed. I mean... it's not just one bad guy. I feel like it's akin to saying years ago "I really hate that Boer dodging fucker Churchill so let's just kill him and go with this Hitler fellow. Also ask Stalin to help and maybe that Hitler guy's buddies Benito and that Emperor dude. Don't get me wrong... there are times I wish I could rock out with my old ancestor Genghis Khan but I know he wasn't a really super nice guy. Dude sat on a throne of skulls and said "“I am the flail of God... If you had not committed great sins, God would not have sent a punishment like me upon you.” That is totally badass but not normally the words of a peaceful guy. I'm also worried my Mongolian ancestor didn't romance my Russian ancestor with wine, flowers and candy. I still wonder if there was another reason cut for time that would be fleshed out. Also the Slaver quest. Only way I got it to clear was to talk to Perla and ask for incentive then say sure. Then go to Hallie and say "dude there is a slaver looking for you" and she says "I'll find a way... give me some time". After go to Perla and say "she already left and you just missed her" then Perla bitches about not paying you for info and leaves. You get xp and quest cleared. You also get to feel better about sending the slavers on a wild goose chase. I do wish you could tell Hallie "come to Ranger HQ and we will protect you" but oh well. King Bahamut posted:I really wish the penalty for not going first in combat wasnt so high. Everyone in the state must think the Rangers are absolute psychopaths who have replaced Hello with quickload-rocket-turret Hah yeah. Or more convo options to still keep the initiative. I don't want to start fights but Dread Lord Cthulhu it sucks going last and you have no reason to do so. Stealth Rocket A Gogo for the win. Thinking about updating OP and got some thought I would run by you guys. Multiple POVs are better than one. My take so far: Weapon Skillwise? At least one level of stealth for the explosives dude is almost mandatory I feel. You are just tossing damage away otherwise. Not as good as max stealth but even 10% is worth it. Explosives are the new king of Combat with melee coming in behind. I love the explosive perk tree. Brawling is still cool but I can't help feel melee has a slight edge. I still think blade is groovy although the best melee is blunt. The blade charge perk that makes it an auto crit and the free 3rd attack still keep it relevant though. Sniper rifles are cool but the skills and perks seem to be as important as the weapon and not quite the insane wingame easy mode as W2. Assault weapons are ok but better early and midgame... sorta. I'm with that one goon that SMGs are fairly good but you still aren't up there with the other guys as far as damage but better overall than ARs. Shotties are fairly situationally cool but its bundled with pistols which are surprisingly decent and can be amazing due to cheap ammo and low ap cost. I've had my pistolera crack some armour and then my other guys knock it down. Invested in fire hard and it does ok but the strongest thing seems to be its debuff. I still love lighting poo poo on fire but it just doesn't cut it with robots. HMGs and LMGs have a long gap of nada between midgame and endgame Non combat skill? Stealth, as I said before, is amazing for the puller/explosives guy. I wanted my melee guy to stealth but sneak melee attacks just dont happen. You get close and conversation. Seems like a waste. Animal Whisperer is my non combat skill MVP as it lets you get a small army of pets and buffs that can double your party size. I like that hard rear end is mostly optional and a debuff than needed for good endings. I like that barter comes in handy and useful. If there is a W4 I'm hoping for barter negotiation speech checks. Still don't find the level 7 perk cheap as it takes some effort to game the money and that's on the player. If you aren't repetitively selling junk it would only pop up like 1 out of 8 or 10 times. I really liked having first aid be more than just healing. Conversation checks about health or detecting how someone died was a nice touch as it was for Nerd poo poo. Overall I just like the improvements to skills and perks in W3. So anything you guys would like to add?

Does everyone need animal whisperer to get pets? Also, can you reassign pets? My lead ranger has it to 4 but got Major Tom so he basically can’t use it. Ultimately I think it would be worth giving everyone a level just to drag six rabbits into a fight to absorb one shot apiece

Ultimately I think it would be worth giving everyone a level just to drag six rabbits into a fight to absorb one shot apiece Yes. You can reassign pets by dismissing them and then using the 'recruit animal' skill with another person before you leave the map. If you leave a map with an animal dismissed it despawns forever. Also Major Tomcat and a later animal, Polly, are unique in that they take up a slot but you can recruit them even if you have another animal follower. So just have your guy tell Major Tom to stop following him and recruit another animal. Then go back through Major Tom's dialogue tree and re-recruit him for 2 pets on one person. Major Tom also doesn't need any Animal Whisperer to recruit if you managed to get the cigarettes on the first map and can be shuffled onto any character you want. There's a third pet that works semi-similarly, the reward for the Cyborg Chicken Quest. Unfortunately you can't manually dismiss it so once it attaches to someone they're stuck with their current pet loadout till endgame unless the unique pet dies (and its tough as heck). So maybe don't make your first slot Ranger your Animal Whisperer if you're going for that pet. Also take the perk that beefs up your animal companions, it basically doubles their HP and damage. By endgame they were doing more than half my Rangers and had between 4k and 10k HP while my dudes were between 3-500. Chickens and Foxes hit hilariously harder than Dogs/Cats/Rabbits early on too. Chickens just get ridiculous base damage compared to other animals and Foxes get extra AP. Dogs just have a lovely poison attack that misses a lot, Rabbits and Cats just kind of suck. The other important thing to remember is you can only have 1 of each type of animal following your party total. So only 1 Rabbit, 1 Dog etc. Major Tom does not count as a cat for this purpose, nor does a later unique pet Billy/Jean count as a Goat. Deer and Doe also count as separate. I rate Snipers with Stealth over Explosives with Stealth. The top end damage to a single target is much much higher and usually I'll want my explosive charge for a nuclear strike. Also the sniper range means you can do very dumb stuff by basically forcing enemies out of the rooms they fight in.

I picked up a rabbit mid game thinking it would die quickly but that fucker stuck around all game. Killed at least a dozen people including a scorpitron. Watching that thing explode because a rabbit nibbled on it was hilarious. I also picked up a stag for shits and giggles and that thing would crit for half an enemy's health and also never died. Meanwhile the quillboar or whatever it was died pretty easily. Even the first clone I made survived all game even while I was shooting off nukes, grenades, and shotgun blasts. They would also constantly run through fire or whatever else was on the ground and didn't care. By end game I was wondering how to skin the animals and make armor from their hides so my rangers could survive more than 2 hits. Like most other things in this game I don't think pets were ever tested or really balanced. I also want to mention how unbalanced armor mods are. They are quite rare since you can't disassemble armor and the late game ones were garbage. +10 armor but -2 ap? I spent all game trying to get as much AP on people as I could, why would I start sacraficing it? Maybe its different on SJ but by end game I still had people in Trooper armor because the +6 armor mod is crazy good and unless its high end power armor the early game armor srill had a higher armor value. It felt like I should have been saving all of my early game armor mods instead of using them. Meanwhile I was drowning in mid tier weapon mods and wished I could find at least one more of the higher end ones.

Managed to "Golden Path" things by only pissing off the Gippers and sucking up to most everyone else. But gently caress Reagan. Feel bad about the Commune going Iron Curtain though. Ending is comparatively boring. If you have the Families, Marshals, and Refugees on your side and uncover all the dirt on the Patriarch you just get a bloodless coup and everything works out. I didn't gently caress with Cordite because it kinda seems like a bad idea to try and recreate Ghengis Khan/Cyborg Attila the Hun but in Kansas. That being said if they ever do make a Wasteland 4 I hope we go further east. Post-apocalyptic flyover states.

I suppose, in order to achieve this Golden Path, the things I should do are: 1. Make sure at least one of your arrestees are given to the Marshals to get that bonus rep. 2. Side with the Marshals over Brygo to get Marshals for your armory. 3. Arrest Mama Cotter so the Arapahos are your mechanics and the 100 Families like you. Refugee rep is very easy to max out anyway. 4. Dig up all of the Patriarch's wives' graves. 5. Cast doubt on the Patriarch's goodness constantly whenever you find evidence and Lucia is with you. Basically what I'm curious about is whether it's actually possible to avert the Ranger HQ mutiny this way since I assume Angela is the instigator for the mutiny and rioting, and siding with her obviously means she won't start poo poo, while being liked by everyone else means the other NPCs and factions assisting at your HQ won't even think of contesting you.

I guess the other stuff you do, the blacksite and the kites for peace thing trips that did it, if you're good to her otherwise. Dunno. As for the marshals, I don't remember if I gave them a single person, so I wonder if I got lucky with a bug at their caravan with the kiss-rear end choice or something. I arrested Brygo purely on his take it or leave it ultimatum. Otherwise I would have gunned down the marshals. I imagine that was just the binary they created railroading the player out a third option more than anything. Plus I thought it worked out in a good fashioned American way by indoctrinating young kids into military service by letting them party and play tabletop games at a military base.

There aren't a lot of sniper perks. If your sniper does enough damage, or has a high crit change, the level 10 perk can be very powerful. You can basically clean up a battlefield with a single ambush (as long as you don't have to reload). Also it's better to give explosives to your sniper if you want to sneak attack with a launcher. And there's a weapon mod that can convert a weapon into doing explosive damage. I wish there was a reliable way to get mods. I didn't even find an explosive mod until my second playthrough. unknown butthole posted:Is anyone else just absolutely blown away by the ost of this game?
