A bunch of people who aren't viable now will be viable without Trump taking up 90% of the air. Much like how the dem bench was ostensibly very shallow until suddenly Biden was gone and actually it turns out there are a number of people who are at least plausibly in the running. idk how it will actually go because the republican deal for a while has been to trade centrists for the right fringe (which has been compounded by electoral dynamics in red states and gerrymandering leading to the bigger threat being getting primaried than actually losing the election), but my core point is that R enthusiasm is very suppressed because of Trump and that will almost inevitably rebound

Can't remember where I saw it but someone did a good explainer that rallies are normally used as a good way to fire up a base and get volunteers for gotv ops, as well as give a spotlight to down ticket candidates. The presidential/vp candidate is basically there to draw people in, and hopefully the campaign leaves the rally with new volunteers signed up for gotv ops, donations, and down ballot candidates getting a bump. Donny isn't really doing that. He's basically just using the rallies to make himself feel better. GOTV ops have all basically been contracted to third parties like Charlie Kirk's grifting outfit, and down ballot candidates are barely there if at all. And if they do show up, they're usually rushed off the stage so Trump can spew verbal diarrhea for 90 minutes.
