I remember like 10-15 years ago trying to explain to people that white nationalist (and btw I really wish we-as-a-society would call them by the traditional term for them) really do want to do nazi poo poo in America and it isn't a joke or merely an aesthetic or like a cultural identity, it's an actual policy endpoint that they're working towards and have been for decades. I still don't know how much people really get that even when the language is, at this point, pretty much explicitly spelling it out. The people targeted by it certainly get it, but idk how much white suburban American really grasps that.
