Tbh I think it's because Kamala planted seeds in his brain's remaining refuse that have sprouted. Ever since the debate and its lead-up, she's consistently told people to watch his rallies, note that he's nuts, watch everyone stream out because they're bored of the same old show, and that he's clearly lost a few hundred steps. The 40 minute dance party got wall-to-wall "wtf?" writeups by everyone and triggered a heavy Kamala emphasis on "is he ok?" So a similar thing happens in Detroit - he has to stop and his brain simply doesn't know what to do. Can't put up a message and leave the stage - people could leave my bigly rally! Can't do what my staff says because then they'd know I need handlers! It's a lot like how he was on Fox and Friends yesterday morning, demanding to have negative ads about him pulled off Fox News. Even said he was going to talk to Rupert Murdock about it. Dude watches way too much TV, which means way too many attack ads, which means quintupling down on everything stupid he does because he can never admit fault.

I mean if the intent is to become the law itself, its a high risk but not necessarily stupid gambit. (its incredibly goddamn stupid). But yeah all of donny's antics make sense in the context of becoming dictator for life would nullify all that legal action against him. If a criminal organization successfully defies a nation state's attempt to reign them in long enough they become the government themselves, or some kind of parallel institution.

NYT's rally-writer sanewashed the whole thing (edit: lol ap didn't), so Kamala's people are pressing the issue: https://x.com/TrueFactsStated/status/1847803815380062652 NBC posted:The Harris campaign quickly pounced on the anecdote. One Harris campaign spokesperson, Sarafina Chitika, suggested that someone should do a "wellness check" on the former president, while another, Matt Corridoni, posted on X that Trump was "Having a totally normal one." In a statement, her campaign sarcastically chided Trump for focusing on "the issue most important to voters in this election: a deceased golfer’s … anatomy." And Musk has escalated his PAC's $100-per-signature to now giving away $1 million / day to a random sweepstakes winner for anyone that signs the petition. It's awkward as gently caress, likely legal due to being a "petition" versus vote-buying, and would likely get him convicted of vote buying if it ever got to a jury (which lol it wont, he's rich). facialimpediment fucked around with this message at 01:23 on Oct 20, 2024 |

Here are some numbers on that unshared reality point:![]() It's one of my biggest frustrations that the internet is more or less a wealth of human knowledge (and porn), but Independents / Republicans mostly use it to build special worlds where they only get told what they want to hear. And of all the things they want to hear and believe, it's that fuckhead.

The latter group wants to cast down the establishment they think is holding them down. I dunno, I hope that characterization is mistaken and just reflects my own being too online. I'm in a spot where I feel like Harris has got this and we might even see a silent, sane majority turn out to vote in a blue wave that the polls are somehow missing, but there's a mountain of doubt

Unfortunately it looks like the Republicans are going to win the Senate by picking up WV and Montana, but may lose the House. So at the very least a Harris victory will be tightening the tourniquet on the arterial bleed that is America’s rightward lurch, and hopefully the midterms will allow for a better picture for the Dems.

It's one thing that the reactionaries reacted to the end of the age of the babyboomers with wanting to murder the rest of us and everything and everyone who changed a little. I can accept the A-to-B privilege, the hurt feelings logic of it. But why, do our nazis, have to be so, so viscerally, unendingly, pathetic. What is this weird clownshow I tells ya, it's not like it used to be. Our ancestors got enemies you could respect. Bullfighters have opponents you can respect. All we get is this decades long parade of loosers. It's insulting.
