I mean if Fox told me water was wet I'd be skeptical of their assessment of the nature of dihydrogen monoxide.

I was thinking. If trump lost in a massive blue wave, nothing would change in the minds of his followers. If they win the office, senate, house, and he proceeds to destroy the country.. maybe then they will finally turn the page on him. The only way they will ever leave him is if they learn to hate him. But yes Fox News paints everything in such a false light it is impossible to message to the GOP. That said, nobody watches CNN or MSNBC either. I hate what this means for my daughter.

I think we have two choices here: 1) a lot of us are hosed 2) all of us are hosed Trump will make sure of the first, so it might as well be the second. I think we have turned the corner and chosen our destiny with this one.

I'm fortunate enough to be of a demographic and in a state that'll suffer the direct harms of Trump's reign the least, but I'm utterly aghast. I just can't fathom the profoundly warped reality that an apparent majority of voting Americans inhabit.

I've been playing Disco Elysium for the first time and sadly some of the quotes make me think of what we have in store for the future. Not so much about communism obviously, but a general pessimism about achieving any progressive or leftwing goals. quote:YOU - Wait, first -- what's this communism even about? quote:0.000% of Communism has been built. Evil child-murdering billionaires still rule the world with a poo poo-eating grin. All he has managed to do is make himself sad. He is starting to suspect Kras Mazov hosed him over personally with his socio-economic theory. It has, however, made him into a very, very smart boy with something like a university degree in Truth. Instead of building Communism, he now builds a precise model of this grotesque, duplicitous world. On a more optimistic note, the writing of the game lead me to this quote from Julius Fucik, who was killed by the Nazis. quote:You who survive these times must not forget. Forget neither the good nor the bad... I want this to be known: that there were no nameless heroes here; that they were people with names, faces, longings and hopes, and that the pain of the very last of them was no less than the pain of the very first... Man's duty does not end with this fight, for to be a man will continue to demand a heroic heart as long as mankind is not quite human.

Give me back my time, my blood, my sweat, and my tears. Take away my PTSD. I do what I do because everything I was raised on, I was taught, I believe is to help those around me. You have the vision of the guy getting hit at 70MPH while trying to play frogger crossing the highway after you saved his girlfriend from his physical abuse. You have the vision of being first on scene to the 13 year old who intentionally hanged himself. If hurting the right people instead of helping everyone is your goal, give me back the past 13 loving years of my life, and you loving have it instead.

And so here's a story from 2016 that y'all could use. It was a day or two after Donnie obviously won and I was a similar mess to now, especially that my appetite died. I took my mom to the local monthly food truck rally with one of her friends just to be with people (I will be doing a lot of that soon!). At that rally, everyone kept on keeping on. I particularly noticed a heavyset older woman, like in her 60s, walk by. She had a pink hoodie on, with hot pink hair, and clearly did not give a single gently caress about what anyone thought about her. It ruled. That was the start of snapping me out of the anxiety funk - why was I being a downer when the spirit of "gently caress you" still existed? Similar thing happened after Biden's debate, as I knew where poo poo was headed without a change. This time, I invited her to a multiple-block food truck rally and saw similar stuff - lots of people having fun and not giving a gently caress about what was in my stupid whiteguy head. What I guess I'm saying is that it's time to chuck the social media and stop by my mom's house... when I'm not a danger to others when driving Sorry for the Cole-ish rant! Hug Monty for me.

Next year's gonna be the same thing but putting the Conservative Party of Canada in power, because we've had a decade of "just go with the flow", and people HATED Trudeau irrationally even before he was elected because, among other things, his father made it okay to be gay. If we make it to the 2120s, will there be a wave of fascism then as well? Because it's starting to feel like a 100-year cycle.
