“We don’t really know where this goes — and I’m not sure we really care.”
Well, no one has explained how Trump is going to fix it other than "he's a businessman!".

It's shameful how many working class voters threw their lot in with him. I'm skeptical it was economics though, just a convenient cover for their preferred brand of bigotry.

Lol the filibuster is done for. Trump doesn't give a poo poo if it blows up in the Republicans faces in 4 years and Mitch has no power anymore.

Dems just wasted time with decorum nonsense.

yeah, the problem with trump isn't just that he's a lovely racist bigot idiot, it's that he's a useful idiot, and after 4 years of figuring out how to control their toddler, they now have control again and know they'll have it for at least four years

and they have a bunch of bonus additions like the "official acts" bullshit, all the fraud and riots, all the voter suppression poo poo.

it's going to come down to how much the dems can manage to stonewall and throw poo poo in the gears, and otherwise just run out the clock. if they keep everything lovely but survivable maybe we'll have another chance in 2028.

If dems control the house I'll feel a whole lot less bad. I strongly suspect that people are very quickly going to remember that the reality of a trump presidency is far different from their imagined version. 2026 midterms will be a blowout (assuming we still have elections). If he goes hard on the tariffs poo poo's gonna get wild economically and fast, if he actually starts mass deportations and nobody can find a painter or get their grass cut or their house cleaned or any of the thousand other thankless jobs that recent immigrants often take, they're gonna be pissed. My memory of Trump round 1 was a whole lot of people who voted for him going 'hooray yeah do the thing we said we wanted you to do!!!' *trump does the thing* 'oh poo poo wait no not like that this isn't how I thought this would go'

Wage growth vs. cost growth is one area where Democrats were pissing on me and telling me it was raining. I surely believe that the average growth in wages exceeded the cost increase of groceries, insurance, and other essentials, but the average figure leaves a massive amount of people on the wrong side of that. My wages grew 2%, not 40%, so I earned less. My groceries didn’t rise only 20%, they rose 50%. Other assorted costs ballooned massively. I was directly told be people I told this to on the forums that I must be mistaken, that I must not have compared my costs to the actual wage growth that I lost under the couch somewhere.

Anyway, any economist who whined about how they just couldn’t find a reason for why people would be pissed about finances when the averages look so good should have their degrees stripped. loving worthless practitioners.

wages increased! but you'll only benefit from this if you switch jobs, because no employer these days would actually be so foolish as to grant a COLA raise

One of the important things to remember about tariffs is that Donnie Goodbrains doesn't give half a sideways flying gently caress about what they do to other people. The only thing he, a malignant narcissist, knew about them is when he started stirring that pot last time he had people coming to his office to grovel and beg for exemptions. It fed him one million percent exactly what he wants, power and control over others. He's going to tariff the absolute gently caress out of EVERYTHING then spew whatever bullshit his honking swine will listen to to make them lap it up and target their pain at getting angrier at whatever out group they feel like hating. Behind the scenes Trump will be taking checks and blowjobs to hand out exemptions to whatever works best for him and the descent into corruption of the country will continue a million miles per hour faster than where we already are. Russian style oligarchy is the goal, because the guys at the top get what they want.
