How come everyone is saying the Senate being Republican-controlled is a forgone conclusion? I'm seeing it being at 47-47 right now, and if Biden wins Democrats only need to get two seats, right?

The VP is only a tie-breaker, so 50-50 is the minimum.

GOP is likely to pick up NC, Alaska. The 2 in Georgia will end up in a run off which the republicans will most likely win.

Rush Limbaugh is currently a bloo blooing on the radio perplexed as to why Biden is winning because he's boring.

I can't believe I'm going to gloat about this because gently caress Cancer, but I'm well past tired of Trump's cult of personality continuing to spew "Biden is boring" as a valid reason to not vote for him/vote against him, so  if this result holds and Durr Fuhrer losing is the last election Rush lives to see.

Ossof has lost to Perdue twice at this point. If the libertarian vote goes entirely to him in the runoff he might have a chance but tribalism is going to work against that. Warnocks best chance is to win outright since the GOP vote is split. A runoff will make it a Dem v Republican choice and will be much harder to win. That's 2, I don't remember who the other ones are but I had set Dems taking two of them best case.

Also chances are good that should Trump lose the republicans in GA might be more likely to come out in largers numbers for the runoffs

48-50 D-R headed into GA runoffs. Best bet is looking like an even* split.

On the other hand, Republicans benefited a LOT from Trump-boosted turnout. Will Republicans still turn out to hold the Senate majority, and will Democrats surge to vote against McConnell? It's hard to say.

Yeah, I was telling her that they should have Sherman statute in Savanah to commemorate Sherman’s Christmas Gifting of the city to Lincoln.

Also worth reposting the final paragraph(cause I love it) of Sherman’s Farewell address.

yea.. who ever pegged their hopes on Warnock winning outright just didn't pay attention to GA politics. The only reason Ossof and Perdue have as high of a percentage of the vote as they do is because the Democrats all threw their lots behind Osoff, and Perdue was running incumbent. The Democrats did not all throw their lots behind Warnock even though the entire DNC and GA-DNC pleaded with the other candidates to just sit the gently caress out and give their few percentage points in the hopes that warnock could maybe squeak over the 50.1% points.

Although knowing that GA-Politics on both sides are corrupt as gently caress luckily I think this basically dooms matt liberman to never running for the party again.

Here in Virginia I always try and talk up General Thomas, the Rock of Chicamauga, victor of the battle of Nashville, and I believe the only Virginian general who remained loyal to the Union. Standing by his country even though his entire traitorous family disowned him to me is far more moral courage than Col. Lee ever showed. It's amazing how all the southern heritage types have never heard of one of the most successful Virginian generals during the civil war. He doesn't have the name recognition alas, but it is my dream for a Gen Thomas statue to replace Lee down in Richmond.

Thomas gets overlooked. He is in my top three with Grant and Sherman. Thomas was insanely innovative with the technology available, solid with logistics and administration and knew how to delegate. He also destroyed Hood outside of Nashville.

I've said for a while if they want statues of Lee (erected in the civil rights era to remind folks who's in charge, not out of any remembrance for "heritage"), we should put statues of Sherman in Atlanta and Columbia.

Then they snubbed their best people like AOC/Omar/etc. at the DNC and are surprised that Republicans didn't turn out to vote for GOP lite that DCCC ran on.

e: Biden just did a 30 second tv announcement, telling everyone to calm down and wait for the votes to get counted. Nothing new, no questions answered, but honestly I think it was brilliant. He addressed the nation, but that was dedicated to an audience of one. Trump is probably screaming at his aids and campaign people that he wants to be on TV right this loving second, and furious that they won't let him because he'll look unhinged. Biden is goading him.
