If you reanimated Holy Saint Reagan and put a -D behind his name the current Republican party would campaign against him as a "socialist", their propaganda would scream he was a "socialist", and any action he took would be decried as creeping "socialism". Stop. Caring. About. Republicans. If someone is in the other tribe they can't appease Republicans, they can't work with them, and Republicans will scream the same poo poo no matter what they do. There's no amount of "messaging" that can be done to stop it. There is no perfect, golden policy that can be written to stop it. There is no bipartisan meeting in the middle that can stop it. There's no form of rebranding that can stop it. There is nothing the other side can do stop Republicans screaming about "socialism". Right wing media will never stop screaming about it. Republican candidates will never stop screaming about it. Their voters will never stop screaming about it. Any Democratic office holder that is still trying to address the issue this way is either too stupid/old/lead-brained to understand the current reality or understands how they can use it as an excuse to punch left and attack their donor's enemies so nothing gets fixed.
