friends don't let friends use 18 gauge speaker wire

Gotta use that 22 gauge. The smaller diameter makes the sound flow through it faster so it hits you harder when it comes out the speaker.

Few thoughts

I remember people were surprised that Keith Ellison decided to leave national politics to take a "lower" role as AG of MN. In 2018 both he and Walz ran for AG and Governor respectively. I like to think they both knew they were tired of being ineffective house members and bro'd up to build and defend MN

Harris is definitely a quick study in how Biden governed. Picking Harris as VP was to augment his weaknesses with her strengths. As a coastal lawyer, she did the same with Walz who understood the Heartland and labor

Biden did a genius move on selecting Buttigieg for Transport. Mayo Pete was an ambitious striver eager to please and Biden knew infrastructure was going to be a mess. He gave Mayo the resources and striver Pete would put himself in front of all the ugly work because that's what he'd to do to get ahead

I mean Walz was a great pick, but to be a Debbie downer, this is exactly how the republicans felt going into their convention after Trump had been shot. This too shall pass. Once the republican nasty attack ads start rolling out and they get their poo poo more together, it’s not gonna look so rosy. The economy is still growing but it has definitely slowed down over the last few months, and even tho the rate of increase in inflation has flatlined, prices are still high and wages haven’t entirely caught up and it’s had a very really effect on people in fixed incomes. It’s likely still going to be a very close race, but having an enthusiastic base is super important and that’s a big change from three weeks ago. I think the democrats are genuinely excited for the first time since Obama, republicans continue to be angry and scared.

A key bit here, and the primary motive for the switcheroo, is that Kamala/Walz can actually defend and prosecute their case while Biden couldn't. Kamala and Walz are delivering proverbial haymakers and Donnie's doing one rally a week, or interviews with streamers/Elon and yelling about Kamala's blackness and Hannibal Lecter.

No matter what, republicans are going to Say Some poo poo and unfortunately for them, they are not in charge of their own message making:

I think it's reasonable to be skeptical and I do believe those are good reasons it could be close. However, the republican enthusiasm didn't decline in a vacuum. Trump destroyed the goodwill he gained from getting shot in his two hour long acceptance speech and JD Vance is a horrible VP pick.

It's also weird that the republican's don't have effective attack lines for Harris by now. They had 4 years, they knew she was at least going to be the VP pick. They should of at least had something to throw at her for the VP debate. But no, they went all in on "Biden old" and now they are scrambling to find something. I am starting to think they are not running a competent campaign.

Don’t worry the old tried and true “black women” attack angle will always be used.

It’s very funny because last year I was in despair that there was no up and coming Dem talent in the wings if Biden kicks the bucket. Feels a bit better now but I’d still like to see some 40-50 year olds stepping up for future runs.

True, wonder if it was because Biden was in such a poor state & Harris wasn’t a major player that they didn’t feel the need to bother?

Something I’m wondering will play a big factor is trump seizing then gutting the RNC to staff it with cronies based on loyalty rather than competence. Hoping will lead to mismanagement of donors, deadlines, or media. Guessing with the large amount of cash coming in & lack of national oversight a lot more money than usual is gonna be quietly disappearing.

It looks like Trump is slowing down the number of rallies he is doing.
This week Harris and Waltz are doing:

Tuesday: Pennsylvania
Wednesday: Wisconsin
Thursday: Michigan
Friday: Arizona
Saturday: Nevada

Vance will be tailing behind them and doing rallies in the same states. Trump had two rallies planned this week, the one in North Carolina was cancelled due to tropical storm Deby, his next rally will be on Friday in Bozeman, Montana. Why are you going to Montana Donnie?

Donnie's barely been campaigning. Against Hillary, he did like 29 events in 30 days, while now he's treating his fox news phoners as an "event". I'm guessing he picked Montana because he wants to knock off Sen. Tester for some reason - it's a wasted day for him. The couchfucker is doing the typical VP trailing thing, but because he's creepy and Kamala has competent stagers:

https://x.com/jeffmason1/status/1821243482201100627?t=8fgzcZtrOLMOziU-WadlAw&s=19

They just can't stop running the "Biden can't talk" strategy with Kamala as a swap-in when nobody but them is whining for press conferences at this point. Kamala/Walz will probably hold pressers for cancelled rallies due to weather!

This has got to be them failing to understand that normies don't stay tuned to political news 24/7 and don't demand new content every hour to feed the mill. There's no way there's even an order of magnitude of D/left people watching MSNBC all day while obsessively reloading daily Kos and the Beast (or whatever left-ish sites people use these days) as there are MAGA's who multiscreen the Trump Cinematic Universe all day every day.

I know it's an n of 1, but I walk the dogs past a chuddy boomer neighbor who has a massive TV facing his picture window and no matter when I walk past, Fox/Newsmax/whateverconservativebullshit is on. Never sports, never a sitcom, never NCIS, just political bullshit. That's not remotely normal.
