I cannot explain how much I hate Shawn Ryan. Not even just because he was a part of the most sociopathic group since Hackworth and Tiger Force, but because he is such a loving bad host. I thought Rogan was uncritical- Ryan makes him look like an investigative journalist. He also comes across as the dumbest SEAL alive which is an achievement, I guess

I'm perfectly fine with Trump sitting in Florida for the rest of the campaign because he thinks Harris' support is all made up.

I was wondering if anyone was ever going to sue his campaign for copyright infringement. How many artists have come forward saying he didn't have permission to use their songs between all his campaigns?

stop letting anyone campaign more than 1 month before an election. punishment is prison and barred from holding office.

Many, probably most musicians don't have control over how their music is used. The contract might give them royalties for performance or whatever but the label gets to decide on use.

While it seems to be going well hope they celebrate the polls by continuing to campaign nonstop & not for a second think it is in the bag, or get into running up the score mentality. Situation is drastically different than it was a month ago & could turn quick. Although hopefully the jerk team self destructs and stops campaigning in early October as they collapse into infighting.

Finally some concrete details on the Donniehack: definitely Iran, documents likely boring as they actually hacked a former campaign advisor, it was a spear phishing attack, and it was confirmed by Microsoft. Could also be completely separate from the politico trove, as that could also be a pissed off person in the campaign. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/08/11/us/politics/trump-campaign-hacking-iran.html Bottom line though - it's not just in Politico's hands anymore: quote:The New York Times received what appears to be a similar if not identical trove of data from an anonymous tipster purporting to be the same person who emailed the documents to Politico. CBJSprague24 posted:NC polling At least NC is no longer a state Kamala absolutely needs anyways. Probably a bit of a reach, but Biden was getting so weak in the Blue Wall and southwest that he was going to start needing wildcard states like NC. Also, this is consistent with Donnie's internal numbers, which are actually showing him sub-50% in fuckin Ohio. But there's another number in there that's making me think Kamala should be making some visits: https://x.com/PpollingNumbers/status/1822672067352789294 If it's 46-46 in the General, and 46-36 in the Governor's race, that's a blaring signal of a Republican base that might not show up. That was one of Biden's big warning signs when he was underpolling downballot democrats by absurd numbers.

I could have sworn Ohio already had an anti-gerrymandering thing years ago and the state Republicans were just like "nah, we prefer not to". Not really sure what would make this one be enforced any better.

IIRC the Ohio Supreme Court refused 5 consecutive redistricting maps submitted last year saying they unduly favored Republicans (you know you hosed up when a Republican majority Court ruled against you). The 6th and current map was allowed in place because it supposedly has bipartisan support in the state Congress.

This time it's different-ish because it's a citizen's panel that is not tied into the legislature at all. Of course, if the legislature/AG just say "nya nya we can't hear you" not sure what will happen. Ohio's statewide government is full of GOP true believers.

Ohio has term limits and has had them for some time. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_Oelslager?wprov=sfla1 This guy has been in office since 1985. Edit: Other state level fuckery. Supreme Court Justices didn't use to have to run on party affiliation. Now it is required. And DeWine appointed a dude to finish a term, that dude still has time left on his term but is now running to unseat the first black woman on the Ohio supreme court instead of just waiting for his current seat to be up for reelection. not caring here posted:I feel like the districting should be left to math nerds and if it survives peer review, there's your map. NC tried that at one point. My grad school advisor was one of the key witnesses for the NC Supreme Court case for their first two overturned maps. They just ran a simple Monte Carlo simulation and shows that the 3/1 GOP advantage was completely impossible if done randomly. The map they proposed was shot down because there was bipartisan push back to letting an algorithm choose the boundaries.

It would be questionable if Epstein had been merely a long‐term lessee of a plane that was owned by someone else before and after his time, but I think that given that the plane was owned outright by an Epstein company, it’s fair to refer to it as “Epstein’s plane”. It’s the same as how Carin II will always be Göring’s yacht. Someone should definitely have looked up its record of ownership before putting TRUMP livery on it. Say what you want about accepting the plane proffered by a charter company on short notice, but the branding is just an unforced error.
