I guessed OP is American due to the pro-Fahrenheit custom title, but I might be wrong! e: yeah presumed it got nuked since posting. What was it? Something controversial or just silly? EL BROMANCE fucked around with this message at 23:37 on Feb 10, 2021 |

Anyway the context was that someone got very upset that Mindy Kaling is voicing Velma from Scooby-Doo in some upcoming prequel show, and posted a gif of Steve Carrell yelling “NO NO GOD NO” from The Office (when he finds out Toby is coming back), in an episode Kaling herself wrote

Gina Rodriguez was pretty blah as Velma in Scoob! And Kate Micucci's rendition in a bunch of animated Scooby-Doo films is terrible. Mindy Cohn knocked it out of the park for Mystery Incorporated. Maybe Kalling will continue the Mindy excellence.

EL BROMANCE posted:I guessed OP is American due to the pro-Fahrenheit custom title, but I might be wrong! I have no clue, just bringing it up that people outside the US might not be familiar with who she is. The more interesting point (in my opinion, anyway) is what shows actually get bought and aired outside the US. I can't remember a time since I was a teenager that I sat down to watch TV to get the latest on a big American show that was bought. Streaming and :files: really destroyed the trauma of having to wait for 1.) British channels to get US shows, then, 2.) Irish channels to wait for the British channels to show it before they'd get them. I think the nearest to this I experienced was waiting for Netflix to get The Good Place's entire seasons up. It doesn't help that the national stations we can get here have awful streaming platforms. A national broadcaster bought up Fraiser, and halfway through an episode it resets and dumps you out to the first episode of season 1. And this is gonna end up with a big problem for productions outside of the big players (ITV, BBC, some of the French and German big channels, and the US stations, Normal People excepted.)

I'm vaguely aware of who she is but I doubt I could pick her out of a police lineup. Looking her up she hasn't been in anything I've seen or am interested in seeing.

There's only like 3 Indian American actors on TV in the world it's pretty easy to know Mindy Kaling even if I don't watch anything of hers

I mean The Office, one of the most popular sitcoms of the last two decades, premiered 16 whole years ago and she wrote for and starred in it from the beginning. Not to mention having her own (self titled!) show after that. It’s not as if she’s some fresh upstart nobody.

Bella Ramsey, who played Lyanna Mormont on Game of Thrones, has been cast as Ellie in HBO's The Last of Us TV series. Still no word on Joel but at this point they're probably close.

I’m sure it’ll be better, but hearing Mazin’s time will be soaked into Last of Us makes me feel the same way I did when I heard Duncan Jones was doing the Warcraft movie.

X-O posted:I don't know if this is a good or bad thing. Is she any good? In the rather-disappointing back end of Game of Thrones, she was definitely a bright point, for what it's worth. Given that the writing went way downhill without GRRM's guidance, she stood out as decently-written and acted well, especially for the age of the actress. I think she'll do fine, hopefully anyway. Her character, though: She's the head of a house, historically retainers of House Stark, who unhesitatingly pledges her support to them in a time of need, even if it ended up only being a handful of knights and men-at-arms for a coming battle. She's one of the few deaths given any sort of decency in the Battle at Winterfell staving off the wights and their masters, herself dying fighting an undead giant, claiming its life with her own.

Cara Dune died on her way to her home planet. (Yes I know the joke doesn't technically work) Lucasfilm is saying that Gina Carano is not currently employed in any current or future Star Wars projects.
