Every other choice was bizarre except for the fact that most of the actors were very good even if the characters they were asked to play didn't act like the people they were named for.

The Duffer Brothers (Stranger Things) have signed on with Spielberg to adapt The Talisman for TV. The book was a collaboration between Stephen King and Peter Straub about a tween boy who hitchhikes across America in a quest to save his mother. At the start of his trip he stumbles upon "The Territories" a parallel Earth full of magic and doubles of everyone he knows.

Yeah, I dont consider that first batch to be reality tv. Same goes with Drag Race or whatever—nothing wrong with theatre and kayfabe, that's all got artistic and entertainment merit. But just imagine who you would have to be to want to air your drama with an ex on a national TV show—and imaginr who that ex would be to agree. I just can't fathom why someone would choose to spend their time watching that sort of person doing or saying anything at all. Let alone getting into legit exploration.

Also, there's some mention, I think, after the stuff with the Money Train that they're going to heavily cut back on nickel and dime bribes so that they don't get busted. Their whole thing was that they'd be the smart corrupt cops and just lay low until they could get a nice early retirement. They sign onto a lawsuit anyway and their expensive, good doctor drops their autistic son from her care and the effective trial program he was going into on the grounds of "lol, you really thought you could sue the company and still get admitted into their really exclusive trial that I'm running."

I started watching Kim's convenience and I love this show, although I am noticing a steady decline in stupid jokes and an increase in character drama as the series goes on, so maybe I won't like it so much later.

My main disappointment so far was the subplot about Jung and his boss having this will they won't they thing and him getting all sad sack over it, that felt like I'd seen every beat of it 1000 times before. E: Also there was some big unintentional comedy when that tiny white guy held up Jung with the smallest knife in the world. I'm also korean american and seeing a show like Kim's Convenience is a revelation. But what I appreciate most is characters like Jung being a well intentioned guy but also being a dumb, himbo, meathead. I feel like we won't have an Asian character like that in America for another decade at least. Most Asian characters are meek and quiet and geeky, or in extreme cases like The Boys she doesn't even have any lines at all.

Yeah and I love that a lot of the side characters are immigrants or general minorities too, and it's not even a thing outside of them occasionally mentioning international politics to make bad dad analogies. For a show set in Toronto it's actually realistic, too, that city's as multicultural as it gets.
