Did they mess with gun drop rates? I've played like 4 rounds now and have seen zero R301s or Flatlines. I've ended up using Volt + Prowler (it still owns) every game so far

Seer seems like if the other scanning recon characters had 1 extra ability for info gathering, the heartbeat sensor means you will never get snuck up on while sniping or clearing buildings unless they revtane on you from 80m away.

Bloodhound has the problem of giving away where his own team is when he scans, Crypto has the problem that he has no real passive and his drone is basically getting destroyed immediately if used as a in combat scan.

Seer is extremely overpowered right now. His heartbeat sensor lets you scan around for teams and his abilities recharge super fast.

We were in a big fight tonight (from 5 squads to the final fight) and I used his ult three times.

I think if they want the scan classes around the power level of bloodhound and seer, crypto's drone when unmanned and stationary should be silent and unlit, it's way too much of a "KILL THIS THING" to anyone not blind and deaf.

There's a hilarious bug right now where if someone starts a finisher on you but is interrupted/cancels, you can zoom around on the floor at regular walking speed so you just zoom around the floor really fast.

Also Seer is uh... really oppressive. Like, goddamn this is annoying. And in 3rd party scenarios it's getting hard to tell which team is getting the ult scan.

I want everyone talking about how op seer is to consider that not only is he going to be in 90% of squads this week, but also that Valkyrie seemed oppressive as gently caress a few weeks ago until everyone learned to start looking upwards every once in a while.

seers tac is pretty hard to hit with at the best of times, and his passive doesn't automatically relay info to your teammates. without the passive the tactical is actually useless

I feel like his ult could stand to be a bit easier to see, though that might come with time

Counterpoint everyone was talking about how op Horizon was two seasons ago and the CD on her tactical got, like, doubled immediately. I'm not sure if his poo poo is actually too good but it certainly feels like its on too short a cooldown for how impactful it is.

It definitely makes Crypto's weaknesses even more apparent. What are they afraid of with him? I got curious and looked at the wiki; he last got meaningful changes literally a year ago, making the drone more durable and able to use beacons...but they also massively increased the size of the drone's hitbox. The only time I remember him being anywhere near an issue was at very high level play, when sticking an arc star to the drone and using it to blow up the enemy team was a very good strategy in the final rings. But they fixed that and it doesn't explain why he feels so underpowered otherwise.

I'm curious to see how it is in a couple of weeks, but it feels like he's "Horizon launch" broken. The fact there's no way to tell when he's using his tactical or found you with it means that he's always going to be pretty annoying. It'll get at least a little better when there aren't 20 in every game tho.

I'd love to see Crypto get a rework. I mean yeah he's good in a team that's communicating and isn't going to run off, leaving you with your dick swinging in the wind when you try to grab your ult.
Unfortunately though that's not 90% of the people that play this, and I don't blame them either. A tac that can be useful on occasion but means you gotta be a gun down kinda sucks.

At the least it shouldn't take so long to whip out his bloody controller. Just have that geared into your AR headset ya techno prick. As if he doesn't have the skills to do that yet.

Faster transition into drone view would help, but I'd love if they just made it a pet. Let Crypto give it orders, or maybe let it hover above Crypto autonomously. You can balance being able to order the drone around by making it slower without Crypto driving. Better yet, rework his passive to make the drone better in a lot of ways when Crypto is driving. Make it more manuverable, make it feed more information to teammates.

It's puzzling, because he's very unpopular, not super good (I think, even at high levels these hold?) but for some reason they haven't given him a straight buff in a super long time. It suggests they're terrified of a strong Crypto for some reason.

Cone for sure, I was tracking a Bangalore with it through some crates last night and it was pretty precise in pointing directionally from my reticule. I’d say once she was about 6 feet from my reticule the directional pointer disappeared.

Note: extremely anecdotal.

"I said it was dodgeball time, bitch."
My S10 impressions so far

-Horizon feels pretty good now, I am glad she seems viable again. I had forgotten how fun her passive makes moving around the map.
-Caustic feels good as well, got quite a few gas knocks yesterday.
-Fuse seems better although I haven't played him myself. One of my squadmates exclusively plays Fuse though and it is nice now that his ult reveals enemies for teammates because before his ult just felt mostly useless and sometimes even a hindrance since it still slows teammates that run through it.
-New map changes are good, the new POIs are fun to fight in and the blue skybox is very welcome. Players are spreading out more now, probably the main reason is people want to see the new areas but it still is nice that half the lobby isn't dropping at Fragment for now.
- Prowler needs a few more nerfs now that it is ground loot. It shreds people so fast.
-LSTAR is very strong but I haven't had a chance to use it much yet. I am guessing people are going to be using it a lot and Reddit will be complaining about it a lot.
-Rampage LMG feels good but not too strong, its great at medium range and feels almost like a fully auto marksman rifle. With the thermite it has great DPS but even then a player in your face with a R99 or LSTAR will shred you, which I suppose makes it balanced.
-Seer is just too much, I hope they balance him soon because he is just oppressive to play against. His passive range is absurd, 75 meters is basically from the top of the hill in gun range down to the dummies. His tactical would still be good if it just revealed enemies and showed their HP, I am not sure why they had it also interrupt healing, interrupt revives, flashbang the enemy, silence their abilities and do 10 damage. And his ultimate, not sure what they were thinking giving it a 90 second cooldown, I feel like it could have a 3 minute cooldown, especially because it lasts for 30 seconds. I feel like it should also communicate to other players better if you are in the radius of the ult and are visible. Right now its kind of hard to tell if you can't see the wireframe edge of his bubble.

Maybe but from a design perspective it's usually better to introduce something overpowered then tune it down then it is to introduce underpowered things and tune them up.

It's usually the opposite, most unlockable Apex characters have been average or underpowered out of the gate. The only really strong ones were Wattson (only in competitive), Horizon and I guess Seer.

Completely believable (good comms helps Crypto a lot, obviously), but looking at the wiki, Wattson has eaten exactly one permanent nerf and been buffed four or five times in there.

It's a cone. If you run the sensor without a gun out, you can see the cone on the minimap along with a faint outline on the ground of the scan range.

The biggest Wattson nerfs were indirect. Making Caustic better at her job and having final circles more random really hurt.

I believe once they released Valkyrie they once said they want to err on the side of too strong on release after what they did with Revenant, Octane, Crypto, Fuse, intentionally keeping them as low-power as possible and being afraid of what they could do.

Revenant and Octane got major, major overhauls and they finally became fun/meta relevant, anyone remember release-jump pads movement range? or Revenant being low-profile on release while being the tallest legend and barely able to climb a 2 story building or not be tethered to 100m within his death totem?
Crypto is still barely changed and Fuse has literally had his Q uses and power doubled since release.

Wattson's ult having a timer was the major killing blow to her dominating the meta on top of the circle not predictably ending on the same buildings most games, on release her infinite shield healing tipped the health scales way too much in her teams favor and it was hard to ever enter the final building she criss-crossed with wires and made un-grenadeble.

Wattson also came in at the peak of grenade meta so it made sense to tone her ult down once they reduced the number of grenades per slot.

It's a very wide cone in front of you, like maybe 150 degrees. So it'll detect almost anything within 75m up until they're to your sides.

The heartbeat sensor "zeros in" within a margin at around where your tactical would highlight them if they weren't moving.
