Honestly they should just entirely remove Seers heartbeat monitor passive, Pathfinder and Crypto both have no real passive, Seer is still overloaded without one. Seers passive alone is better then bloodhounds entire kit, and bloodhound was the top tier scanner character before him. Ra Ra Rasputin fucked around with this message at 02:10 on Aug 10, 2021 |

bloodhound buff: when bloodhound scans someone, they stay revealed for the rest of the game, to all teams

Seer passive needs to be a lot shorter range to be acceptable. Like 5-10m. Seer Q needs to only do the healthbar/reveal and nothing else. Ult can stay as is or maybe make it a slightly smaller area if it's too still oppressive (I think it's generally ok). He would still be a great champ like that.

say what you want about seer being too powerful, getting the final kill through a wall using the Q is the most satisfying thing

I still find it hilarious that i'm able to go "oh i'm positioned wrong" and still gently caress up a push with him.

Three of this week's challenges for me can be completed using Seer so I put some time in with him for a few rounds Short of aiming the loving gun for you this character can do everything

Looking him up, apparently he was the guy behind the pathfinder 35 grapple cooldown and these skillful clips https://www.reddit.com/r/apexlegends/comments/ja65hy/grapples_by_the_man_behind_pathfinders_recent/ Also apparently he got fired from Riot Games for... let's see... doing the exact same poo poo on twitter.

I didn’t know you could get fired from Riot games. That’s really quite the feat

I don't want to know what he said, but also that's a lie and I really do

he was apparently fired from riot for telling gamergaters to gently caress off, which is funny that that is crossing a line for riot and lends credence to him saying he got better from saying racist toxic poo poo in 07. seems like he was also just not very good at his job though.

Is there any actual confirmation on what he was fired for? I wasn't at all a fan of his balancing decisions (or "justifications") but I haven't seen anything beyond that he's gone.

If he designed seer they probably just fired him over that, because this character is a mess. Half joking

Daniel only really got hate from community because he was the main character design guy posting about the character balance changes on the apex subreddit which kinda made him the default target when people got angry about a balance update and wanted to harass a developer about it. Even the Riot firing thing was apparently about him calling the league reddit community toxic manchildren (correct) after they got enraged about the company having a series of panels and portfolio checks that prioritized women and non binary people. He always seemed like a decent enough dude and his firing is really surprising news. I'm curious what kind of poo poo they actually found.

That's his story though, there could always be more that he didn't reveal. I don't know anything about him to suspect that, just pointing out the possibility.

I think the only blog I ever had was DeviantArt. And it was always poo poo about Transformers or Legacy of Kain. How many people go back and scrub their old blogs? This was something someone had to search for, I'd think?

I don’t really care that he made those comments 14 years ago. He was 27, not 13. It’s like when people defend Trump’s pussy grabbing comments as “it was way back in 2005!!!!” He was 59. I’m not sure those comments alone linked earlier in the thread are fire-worthy, but add that nice dose of gross sexism to some buried racism (that apparently was scrubbed clean before we saw it)…. Mix in some colossal negative player feedback to Seer… I could see it.

also the Acti-Blizz situation is probably making a lot of HR departments across the industry real nervous and eager to cleanse any potential problematic people.

From having worked in the game industry for 10+ years, I doubt that the reaction to Seer has much to do with his firing. Seer is overall a fairly well-designed but poorly balanced legend - and the poor balance is easy enough to fix. Even if Seer was an absolute train wreck, I don't think it's the kind of thing someone tends to get fired over - more likely they just won't be assigned the task of making new legends going forward. The firing likely has everything to do with the blog posts, and maybe some internal stuff we're not privvy to (office politics, a long-term pattern of declining work ethic or quality, etc)

I absolutely figure he's getting fired over old blog posts but its funnier to me that he gets fired for seer.

comics are out, in-game conversations you'll only hear second hand because they require 3 specific legends to be in a specific part of the map are in https://twitter.com/shrugtal/status/1425228442782650376

I'm just wondering if, after the blizzard catastrophe going on, other gaming companies are going through and trying to scrub anything in their background, or find cases like this to make a public example.

I dunno, the majority of legends have interesting personalities so it isn't too surprising a chunk of people would get invested in them. Whether or not the backstory writing ends up being good or not can be subjective sometimes.

I was going to bring up that someone’s age isn’t necessarily the only factor to consider when talking about things that are currently socially unacceptable, but also what was considered to be socially acceptable in the culture at the time… but after reading the post, even in 2007 it was super lovely to call all women stupid, irrational, and crazy. And using the loving bible to make your point lololol That said, I did things that I knew were stupid in 2007 (in particular, drunk driving) that DID get me fired and I (eventually) learned the lesson that you shouldn’t do stupid poo poo just because you think you’re immune to the consequences, legal or otherwise. It would be unfair to be fired for those mistakes again now imo, because I don’t think like that or do that poo poo anymore. 14 years is a long time. Hell I was 27 only eight years ago and have matured a decent amount since then as well and hope to continue to do so, because I am still definitely flawed. One final note on the blog post is that you can tell he was quite heated when he wrote it and might have even disagreed with himself the next day or week after he’d cooled down. It’s impossible to know, but worth considering in these types of discussions. It seems unlikely that he was fired for that blog post alone. Perhaps the way he interacts with women indicates that he’s still a sexist piece of poo poo, or maybe he’s not great at his job and this was the final straw, but if he was fired exclusively because this blog post resurfaced it’s almost certainly entirely a PR demonstration.
