Yeah it's a bit surprising revenue is as high as it is -- I never really see my character model so character skins don't matter much to me, I don't think I've ever emoted or holosprayed tbh, and the game feels so frantic all the time I'm never really chilling and looking at my weapon. For some reason it felt like weapon skins in CS:GO were a bit more appealing since there is more downtime in that game where you are just chilling, holding an angle, and staring at your gun. Clearly a lot of people don't feel this way though, since selling skins seems to work super well. I feel like the only cosmetics I'd really like would be an heirloom -- it would be nice to be able to watch a little knife flip while I'm running around instead of just my hands.

I mean this game does both.

On that note, are there any other games that sell both gun skins and character skins?

CS:GO started with just gun skins but they added player skins as well a while ago

which immediately caused gameplay problems

CS:GO does now- they added an agent system recently. Less bad in many ways there since you only need to be able to identify CT vs T, not “which of a dozen specific characters is this one I’ve seen for just a second?”

E: though not great clearly lol

valve ended up working around their own mess by tweaking how player models render so they stick out from the background even if they're a similar colour

I'm truly in awe that companies don't just let me select "only show me default skins" as an option.

I wanted to abuse it last night because endless rampage sounds extremely fun, but turns out you can't swap weapon slots on console

Skins exist entirely so people can look at themselves emoting or on the main menu, so I doubt it. I don't think i've legitimately ever looked at a skin and gone "oh that's so cool, i don't mind that he killed me". I barely even notice them unless they're some blending in bullshit.

oh, dripto? yeah that one is pretty good. the only thing i don't like about it is the cyberchin, which is an effect they put on a ton of cyborg themed skins. valk has it by default. why are you wearing skintight material only on your chin. that would be so uncomfortable.

e: actually checking default crypto has it. it's like they cut off part of a gimp suit and glued it to their chin

The only skin that is absolutely necessary is Clown Mirage, because sometimes you're just feeling that mood as you comically outline your enemies with a whole mag and then jump into a lava crevasse while trying to escape a squad.

It's facial reconstruction/prosthetics to confuse facial recognition technology. So basically future age juggalo makeup.

Remember when you lost an aim duel to a guy with an R45 when you had a Spitfire? Clown Mirage remembers. ;)

honestly it made me think they could probably make it a lot better without it being broken. like let you charge up a thermite and switch back to using the charge with B or something.

The issue is that at less-than-competitive skill levels (i.e. mine) the slow fire rate of the un-amped Rampage has a very good chance of happening only at the exact moments you are not fully tracking your opponent as they bob and weave.

it's funny that the rampage is only now considered good; poo poo was great even on day 1. all it took was a few top 10 streamers to start melting people with it and suddenly it's even good enough to pass muster in ALGS

my favourite thing to do with the rampage is to find a fight and just shoot at window or gap or something. it fires slow enough that you can just wait for someone inside to wander across the beam and get free kills which is always hilarious.

Ra Ra Rasputin

Best part about the rampage is it can not only 1 clip people, but it can 1 clip teams.

It also functions perfectly fine as a semi-auto mid range sniper and let's you pair it with a shotgun easily, just don't try trading hits from 200m+ against a real sniper.

In competitive do they stock up hard on thermites or just use it barebones?

Feb 15, 2008
I love the rampage even without slapping a thermite in it. It's super easy to track people and melt them with it. Put a 3x on it and you can plink at people from super far away. Combine it with an R99 or a CAR and you're golden.

Rampage is legit good even without the grenade. Coming up against some rear end in a top hat with it 300metres away plinking away at me definitely keeps my head down. It's a serious suppressive weapon.

yup thats what i see every time i try to use the rampage, lol. its like the firing rate is perfectly synced to the standard player's A/D wobble speed and i'm forever shooting at where they just were
