Maggie Q sadly seems pretty weak. It's a really small area of effect. Control is a great mode for warming up but I wish you could choose from at least two of each loadout style.

Her q feels insanely useful to me. It flushes people out of cover, punishes someone trying to heal after losing an aimduel, wrecks people holding doors to slow you down, lets you stop people from pushing into a room or at least make them hesitate. It's a way better thought out seer q for the user and the victim. It even gives you info by telling you which angle they aren't holding when you enter a room or a building. Situational, but really really good and she's fun to pay overall, too.

Yeah not saying its not useful at all, but Fuse Q seems better at a lot of those. I was hoping it would be a deeper version that goes through terrain compared to the pretty wide spread of his (especially if you use both charges together). Every time I've been hit by it I've been able to scoot back a tiny bit and be fine. It's been really easy to play around and felt kinda weak when playing too. Like it doesn't really impact a gibby bubble at all unless they're trying to res right against the edge or something. It feels about as impactful as Valk's Q, but without the ridiculous power of the rest of her kit to go with it.

Yes, but on other characters you can just hit “G” instead of “Q” to get nearly the same effect. Revenant has the same problem.

Maggies tactical is also really good for just loving up sight lines. Which admittedly is mostly useful in control since that has "lanes" sorta. But throwing it into a doorway can slow people and prevent them from pushing or just being able to aim well. Also satisfying to just gently caress up door holders with it.

Control is probably ok but I don't think I like deathmatch modes anymore. It gets real old having a fight and then being shot in the side by people over and over again. It's literally a third party sim. Add in teammates refusing to cap points (we sat on the enemy spawn for a long time, they just refused to actually go get C back, all the enemies were dead and attacking us) and its frustrating.
|
# ? Feb 10, 2022 01:51 |

It's impossible to be a third party simulator as there are only 2 teams

Actually, there's my squad, my team and the enemy team. Two of them are colluding.

was playing with dogstile and it's genuinely surprising how often pubbies will forget to stand in the actual area that caps a point, outside of the home point. Probably needs a bit more flash on the STAND IN HERE TO CAP to make it way more obvious. Been enjoying it overall, reminds me of control points in Team Fortress 2 and just chucking in and having fun shooting without having to worry too much about dying. That said I think it'll run into the issue of becoming a solved strategy thing as people realize back capping is pretty important to contesting the mid point, as it stops the enemy team from spawning on the midpoint if they've captured it. Time will tell. Also, the kraber never gets old. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/780620442829979658/941132262559326249/tap_strafe_this.mp4

I like Control but it's not quite dynamic enough. Also I'm pretty sure I was playing against bots, or else these players are typically the players that get wiped right away in regular Royale mode so I never get to encounter them.

The control mode seems to snowball a bit, since once the first fight is won the survivors will have purple upgrades and can spawncamp the respawns rushing to B.

Control is really fun. I can dig it. I like that the weapon loadouts are different every time.Thumbtacks posted:his ult seems...not necessarily super useful. but i like his personality, it makes me laugh. still probably mostly going to play rampart at the end of the day though Sometimes you can pull off a good ambush or two using it. ZeusCannon posted:Revs wall crawl is great because you can almost always bypass vertical ziplines which A LOT of people trust the audio cues for warning on. Plus, it sticks around and hits anyone that walks into it. I love my loincloth robot! Man Musk fucked around with this message at 11:22 on Feb 10, 2022 |

Hello friends, I've just got started on this and am enjoying it quite a bit. I'd like to play with goons and I'm told I can share an EA id to get people to add me, but I cannot for the life of me find one. Googling it seems to turn up similar confused people.

People choosing Loba in Control just confuses me TBH. 2/3 of her abilities are practically useless in this mode and the ring teleport sucks compared to all other movement legends.

Repeater with shattercaps slaps right now, it's both a good sniper and a 12 shot spammy shotgun up close, making it a really solid secondary gun. Bocek feels bad without being able to toggle shattercaps off however, it's shattercap damage is so bad and it could hipfire reliably before. With control I kinda like it, but it needs some work, like you shouldn't have to select the only spawn point at the start of the game, I've seen so many people just stay dead because they didn't realize the game was going on, another thing is it can get a bit snowbally with the surviving winning team having better guns then the team rushing the point, also they really need to figure out a solution for people quitting matches, it's something that has plagued apex since the start but it's still a problem here, one last thing is they could give a bit of flexibility in the weapon loadouts because some of them are just plain awful, Charge rifle + P2020? really? And I think I already solved it for what the "meta" thing to do will be, every team should be picking a pathfinder and octane at spawn and heading to capture home, this will charge their ultimates and then they can make a jump pad/zipline network to middle and enemy home giving their team an advantage like engineer teleporters in Teamfortress2.
|
# ? Feb 10, 2022 14:34 |

That’s not solving the meta. The real move is rampart caustic wattson on B and laugh as you never lose it.

Bottom Liner posted:The real move is rampart caustic wattson on B and laugh as you never lose it. And then the other six people on your team for some reason also decide to hang out on B for the whole match while the enemy capture both A and C so you lose. In all seriousness, most matches so far it really does feel like the team forgets other zones than B exist after the first 30 seconds of the match are over.

I played a few rounds of Control last night with mute pubbies. I pretty much skipped all of last season so was trying to re-familiarize myself with everything more so than win. Either I just got way more analysis paralysis when picking a legend or the timer in Control moves a little faster. First round my default legend was Ash, who I don’t remember ever playing (I played a little bit early in the season late at night and hammered) and as I was trying to pick someone the timer drained in a hurry. In my little bit of loving around with her it seemed her ult might be useful for Control, but I never quite figured out how to use it. My most success came from setting up with Rampart on A or C and making them throw bodies at not-B. Random question I thought about as I was shutting down. Does voice comma work for all 9 teammates or just the 3 in each squad? I assume a goon party of 9 would use discord comms and avoid that.
|
# ? Feb 10, 2022 16:29 |
you can switch legend and loadout in the respawn map screen, you arent locked in for the whole game text chat at least works for all 9 during the final pose lineup, so if you want to GG or be toxic that's your moment. i dont think comms work between squads mid-match.

Fuse rules. His range is ridiculous. I'm going to take him for a spin in Control. Having a somewhat decent time as Seer in Control, heh. There's so many star challenges to be earned in Control, great way for those character unlock points. e. In BR, Loba is really good in the first 4 minutes or so. After that, it's up to you and your gear. Man Musk fucked around with this message at 21:46 on Feb 10, 2022 |

I definitely had a Loba win us a game once. Ended up in a three way stalemate sith everyone fuckin bunkering right outside bunker on kings canyon (ironic). Thr loba stole i poo poo you not. ALL the ammo and we just suppressed the gently caress out of anyone moving.

I was going to say loba is great late game because you can just always have heals and ammo. A lot of lobas aren't agreasive enough using ults during combat. I'll also use a loba ult as a decoy. Toss it down and rotate so they go in to the ult and you can hit then
|
# ? Feb 10, 2022 22:08 |

Yeah loba rules end game. Grabbing 6 shield swaps in circle is a game winner. Or just stealing them as soon as another team goes down and then wiping the healing team.

Valk + Loba + stinkman was the meta in ranked last season. Not optimal for comp but in the less intense ranked environment it was very effective. Valk scanning to find the upcoming circles, Caustic farting up a house while Loba's shop steals everything in the vicinity, nope out with Valk ult if things turn sour, repeat.
|
# ? Feb 10, 2022 22:25 |

Nah, it was gib/valk/other for 99% of teams, with some teams running loba instead of valk and rotating earlier. Asia used a lot more crypto than valk but gibby was still like 97% pick there too.

Loba's passive and ult are pretty niche/minor use in Control for sure, though I think her ult is a bit underrated for the entire team being able to run up and grab whatever purple/carepackage weapons are on the ground in the area, or even snag a gold armor if you're lucky.
