The controls are still busted on Xbox Series X|S, but it seems like you can plug in your controller and they’ll work right. I hope they fix it soon though cause my USB-C cable is not very long.

So you're telling me that a game like Fortnite that has a metric fuckton of cosmetic skins that can handle it's poo poo file size wise vs a game like this that starts out it's season at 54 gigs and just balloons out closer to 100 gigs by the end of its season is acceptable?

It's 10 gigs, not 30. An inconvenience sure but you make it sound like it went from 50 - 80 or 90. Epic used their own engine with Fortnite. Apex is still running on some bastard version of source iirc. Apex is probably not gonna get any smaller lol.

started playing this game with a couple friends during the weekend and is matchmaking just hosed up when queuing with a group instead of solo? we constantly get randomly stomped, seemingly by a single dude with absolutely incredible aim that empties an smg mag into your head killing you from 100/100 to dead in less than a second, sometimes from 100m away, so often the whole squad dies in about as much time as it takes them to reload lol then i queued solo last night for one final game, and despite bloodhound quitting before we even landed, me as lifeline and a gibraltar got to #2. i got 6 kills, forgot how many the other guy had, probably 2-3, and he only got knocked down once and i didn't at all. if the bloodhound didn't drop we'd have easily murdered the last squad camping in a tower, too, since even 2v3 was a very close fight

solo vs group unranked mmr is always going to be a different experience yeah. 3 stack squads get a significant bump to the hidden mmr cause communication is busted af just like in any fps. If you and your friends were all totally new accounts you should've been in newbie island though. You get smurfs down there on the regular because some folks can't feel good without stomping totally new players, which sucks but that's f2p for ya.

That said, it's a significant time investment to get good, so try not to sweat it too much if you get beamed occasionally. Early on you'll probably still die a lot to mistakes you don't even realize you're making even versus simply competent players who've played a length longer than you

Yes when you queue with a group I believe it throws you into a queue with other pre-made groups instead of with randomly made ones with people that don't know each other.

This might be just anecdotal but I do know a lot of ranked poopsockers are extremely vocal about how grindy this season has been and a lot of them quit to just do casual/public matches more again.

The issue this season is that entry costs are too high so barely anyone can even make it out of gold so the instant you hit P4 you're in pred lobbies and then it's almost impossible to make any upward movement unless you are also a pred player. I've been able to hit D4 in multiple previous seasons and I'm G1 currently and don't plan to go further because I have to fight preds and masters if I don't want to solo the last rank to P4.

Ranked is fun because there will be more then 3 squads alive before ring 1 closes and those final circles with a squad behind every rock and lamp post are pretty intense. If you are anxious just stop caring about the numbers and focus on your overall map positioning and where enemy teams are likely to collapse from, if you take a fight win it quick and decisively or be ready to book it before the third parties arrive behind you. If you don't drop with everyone else in a normal game you usually have an extremely quiet game because people are just landing to have a deathmatch and quit out on down a thousand times trying to recreate their favorite streamer moment instead of actually playing to win and that gets boring after awhile.

ranked is fun but gets very demanding also you will meet some beautiful souls in mm and when you see them again 3 games later you can prove yourself to them. make friends in ranked, thats my motto.
