You know I'm not that surprised that Caustic is still more or less as good as he was once it actually clicked in my mind how the math works out post nerf. With 1 tick of gas (someone triggers a mine and pulls back immediately) you lose 1 point of damage, barely even worth mentioning. With 2 ticks (someone full speed sprints through his gas) you lose 3 points of damage, almost nothing. With 3 ticks (someone pushes through at normal speed) you lose 6 points of damage, not nothing, but still incredibly minor. With 4 ticks (someone pushes through very slowly) you only lose 10 points of damage, definitely a notable loss, but even then it's not that crazy. Even at 5 ticks you're missing out on a grand total of 15 damage, and that certainly could decide a fight, but people rarely stay in gas that long. That's 15 damage you're missing out on total if they're in the gas way too long.

It only really affects his damage appreciably when you're getting to the higher tick amounts, which only really applies in final circles, really sloppy scrambles in buildings, and bunker style trap rooms. It does open up the option to sit and heal through gas which I see a lot as a complaint, but only if the Caustic isn't paying attention to the gas at all, and at that point you don't really deserve the kill just for pressing the gas button.

Honestly it was a pretty well thought out nerf that barely touches the lower end of damage and only really affects it when you're keeping them in for the full duration which is where his playstyle started to get pretty degenerate. I started off super pissed about the nerf, eventually realized that he was still really good after playing him for a while, and now I'm actually super hyped because they basically halved his pickrate so I don't have to play against other Caustics and nobody can complain that he's op now despite him possibly still being a high tier legend. Seeing him still represented as the top dog of the off meta picks at ALGS Winter Playoffs kinda locked in my opinion.

Loba is pretty good I reckon. Her ult means you can stay topped off on ammo and medicine even when your pub teammates scour every deathbox clean before you're finished healing up.

Her tac is probably a bit too finicky to use but being able to teleport through windows etc is extremely cool

Had a good win last night playing Bloodhound. 2k damage with the Volt + G7. Was playing with a pub Bangalore who would smoke up, I'd scan, and then we would murder the whole team in like 5 seconds. It was awesome. Our last teammates only kill was the final Wraith, I was certain he was going to choke

Lately I have set myself a limit of 2-3 matches per day due to time constraints (and a desire to actually play other games), and it has gone a long way toward improving my play. Trying to make every match count adds some welcome pressure that makes me play wayyyyyy better than I do in the middle of a 7-game loss bender.

Just bonked a Pathfinder in mid-air while tracking its entire parabola with the R-301 for the first time in months :3:

By the by, I don't think I have felt threatened by a Pathy in months? He ranks below even Rampart in my threat calculations.

I've been getting two of my friends into the game and initially I was spamming Mirage because he's fun and I was worried that playing Pathfinder or Octane would make it too hard for them to keep up with me. But I've switched back to Pathfinder in these situations because
1) 50% of the time my buddies would follow my Mirage illusion thinking it was me and
2) I can sort of use my friends as decoys anyway since they are still pretty slow at looting and haven't gotten in the habit of using cover effectively, so being able to instantly grapple away from them sets up some easy flanking plays

I've been maining Bloodhound for this season cause I have a desperate and degenerate need to get to 1k kills on their tracker (like my guy Octane) and agree. I think I straight up play worse when I have a BH on my team cause I become so reliant on the scan. I probably play slightly better when I'm driving them, but when they're a teammate? forget it, I suck poo poo.

Assuming you successfully 1v3 the enemy team, then cancel-revive spam, and/or take their banner and take your sweet time about finding a beacon. If you want to go the extra mile, start talking on voice about how you're worried about a squad showing up so you're passing by this beacon and will resurrect them at the next beacon.

Most of the lovely people on PSN disconnect immediately, so this isn't really a thing. My go to move for toxic ranked teammates is to crouch in front of a revive beacon with my gun away for like 30 seconds then run away.

I accidently did it earlier by picking up a Shield Kit. Just 5 seconds of dead air then a absolute flurry of Eastern European broken English screaming down the coms calling me every name under the sun for "stealing".

Here's the thing though, they didn't ping dibs it. They didn't give any indication they needed it. It was late game and we were rolling in looted Phoenix Kits and what have you. I have no earthly idea why this one Shield Kit on the ground had them go that mad they spent the rest of the game meleeing me until they ate a headshot and quit.

By far the easiest way though is to let the inevitable, inescapable twichy Octanes/Wraiths the pub queues are stuffed with charge into 1vs3's and not even attempt to pull their idiot asses out the ground. Just go do something actually productive instead then swing around to take their gear.

Grabbed a teammates purple without noticing, he says something about it, and while I'm apologizing and switching back, he disconnects from a rank game.

A friend I group with had someone go off at him for looting from a box because it wasn't him that killed the guy that dropped it. Is that a thing? I've had people take stuff out of ammo bins as I open them, from MRVNs I've pulled the arm on, and in one case from the replicator. But loot boxes are sacred somehow?

Generally in my group we give priority to those who killed the box-owner. But it isn't off limits, just I'll hesitate to pull the level 3 light mag from the box if I didn't kill the guy. ESPECIALLY If it was like a 3v1 situation where I had to get revived.

On the flip, a couple of days ago I rolled an enemy squad off the drop by barely 1v3ing with mozzy hammer points, and when my (full health, full armour) squad rolled up they fast-looted all health and shields off the boxes while I got a single shield cell off the one I downed last. They then bitched me out for not following them into an immediate second fight on 3hp and one shield bar.

I guess the rule there is 'leave heals for those who need' more than 'you keep what you kill', but it certainly left a bad taste in my mouth.

This one is especially silly when you consider that someone can do all the damage while the other person get the knock. I even had my buddies argue about this once (not exactly a heated one) and that's basically how the convo went, though this was before the damage tracker so it was a bit more ambiguous in terms of who was right.

I had some guy punch me today for looting the box of a guy he killed but there were like seven boxes in the area because we fought off drop in Estates (and I didn't know who exactly he killed because we were split). And I didn't even get to it right away because I was being a good teammate rezzing our perpetually down revenant (who never used his ultimate even after we got charged by a team that did lmfao). That one wasn't so bad but it's kinda hilarious the mentality ppl have re loot in this game. For me IDC as long as people aren't total loot-mongers taking all the ammo/heals when I have none.

Pubs are really, really, really, REALLY bad at reading situations. Not just in terms of when a fight's going bad or when to enter one, but unless you're begging them in chat it's rare they'll notice you're limping along with a scrap of health and an empty gun.

Goes double for even semi-hot drops. More than once had people scream at me on a squad wipe when they hoovered up every last bullet they didn't need or dumped loot as they're fleeing whoever found the best shield first.

My loot-box ettiquette is that i'll grab a bit of ammo, some cells/batts and any attachments I desperately need and leave the rest. If it's early game though I'm fully stripping one box.

I think my most hated thing is when teammates will pick each box clean before they revive you. It's extremey rude and also bad practice. I could be healing up while you loot.

I quit out of a game yesterday because a dude jumped in a Trident and sped off without us, leaving us stranded far outside the ring. How selfish do you have to be?
