With a full squad it's pretty atrocious too unless you're all very solid high plat/low diamond players, since that's the "default" skill level of the full-squad queue in my experience.

I think duos in ranked might be the way to go. You don’t get matched up against too many premade teams, and sometimes your pubby can kill a dude.

Yeah, if you want to rank up more easily, going as a pair usually works better then a full group. You're not always going to be fighting 2+1 and having 2 coordinated people can easily beat 1+1+1.

Eh, I think I usually had a worse time as a duo than a solo. Most people going in solo are only concerned about their RP and no one else's so it's much harder to get them to play as a team. They'll be less likely to engage and more likely to abandon an engagement that's winnable in an attempt to protect themselves from potentially losing RP. So then you get two people trying to work together and play as a unit and one person who will drop both of you the instant it seems convenient for them.

...on the plus side I'm feeling much more angry now than I expected so this totally helps me get in character.
The funniest thing I've seen Wattson players doing is using fences to execute downed enemies. In fact, doing that is almost always a sign they know what they're doing.

As for Caustic, he's good but you do need some team play because it ideally takes more than one player to destroy an enemy team stuck in the gas. If your ideal playstyle doesn't really mesh well with what your teammates want to do then it's hard to get anything going. I'm not just talking camping buildings either it's all about taking advantage of opportunities.

The problem is after a while you sorta get conditioned to do this as a solo because your teammates are trash more often than not and can't even get a single person down before going down themselves, much less win a fight unless you do everything.

Yeah, I only queue solo and when my teammates are together they tend to ignore me and not want to play like a team at all. Way more coordination with 3 pubs than 2+1.

I think the biggest thing when being the third wheel is that they'll never, ever use pings.

I think best possible solo outcome is when both other players are extremely aggressive. It means you can run aggressive too and you never have to worry about getting downed and your third being 300 meters away, providing overwatch of the building you are fighting inside.

I refuse to play this game solo anymore. It's miserable. Even if I play with self described "bad players" at least by virtue of being in discord with me we can group and make callouts, which makes people better than 99.9% of pubbies.

TOXIC
While we're on the pubbies suck train, goddamn it's still amazing how No Fill has completely passed over the perfectly smooth surface of the collective pubbie hivemind. Games this morning just stuffed with people doing the classic "solo drop, scream at team-mates when they can't sprint across the length of the map in a second to save you" and a bunch of idiots tucking themselves into forlorn corners to farm, then threatening reports if we dare revive them.

For real. Tried this at release, my computer couldn't handle it but I'd struggle on with 12 fps anyway and eventually bounced off. Being able to maintain a stable 60 has done wonders for my aim and situational awareness, who woulda guessed :v:

You get to character select and they're both in the same club
or
You get to the "your squad" banners thing after character select and one has a controller and the other a PC icon

When teams like that use pings you know its going to be a good game
When they run away together silently or telepathically communicate items or pick things up for eachother so you can't get them you know its going to be a bad game

I was getting 80-120fps most of the time at 1440p and recently dropped to 1080p so I could get a solid 143fps and consistent input lag. Took a few days to adjust but it definitely helped a bit.

It's annoying that the engine has dynamic resolution but it won't let you set the target higher than 100fps

Cruising the information superhighway
The only thing I legit don't like when I'm solo is running into those squads of 3 decent shooters that focus fire and never leave each other's side. They just deathball through other squads and they get by on their coordination and nothing else. There's zero strategy or thought, they just run directly into the fight and either you separate them with grenades/abilities/mobility and win or you get downed in 2 seconds and then watch some other squad wipe them. Very stupid.

Honestly I’m not a fan of comics in general because I can’t tell how the flow of some conversations go. Sometimes the panels are super confusing and I tend to read two lines from the same person first because they’re next to each other.

I'm glad this isn't just me.
I like the art, it's cute. I also read the actual plot on the wiki and it's cool and good.
But lord, I can't follow the flow at all. Not the dialog or the panel to panel action.
The one from season 7 I honest to God had no idea what was happening panel to panel, it just looked kinda cool.

Lol I breezed thru ranked to plat 4 solo queuing (because it’s bronze/silver/gold) and whew, the level of sweat and 3 stack previous-season diamonds makes it not fun at all. I probably shouldn’t be playing during business hours.

Lexusbeat

When I was playing last week plat had a bunch of people with pred/masters dive trails. Give some time for more of the population to get pushed out of gold.

Ranked queue needs a rework. The variation in difficulty over a season is just a really weird artifact of how they implemented it.

This is my first season and I'm a bad player so maybe its different up in diamond but so far I'm feeling like bronze/silver/gold doesn't mean as much as IV,III,II,I cos IV is full of people who juuuust scraped over the line and can't get demoted and the closer you get to I people are trying harder not to throw RP away. The quality drop going up to silver and then gold was noticeable

First game of ranked yesterday I actually got plat I and III teammates and we got 2nd with max KP for everyone, I had like 1900 damage and the others had like 1500. Amazing what you can do when you don't get bottomed out plat IV shitters who just throw every match and do less than 100 damage.

Killing Time sounds great, yeah. It self-balances, if there's a lot of teams left you get a lot of space to fight in, if there's only a few teams left, you get pushed close to each other.

The only viable complaint I could see is that ranked is locked to Olympus, so you are locked out of regular games on the superior kings canyon for the duration of the takeover. Granted that's not the complaint I saw in the replies, those are just "I want to play the standard game but not in ranked" which isn't much of an argument.

To be clear, I actually like the rotating modes a lot

Yeah, if it goes well I hope it becomes the new normal mode if they can't find a way to stop everyone from dropping instantly and having the entire server wipe itself out trying to replicate their favorite streamers 20 kill game.
