CatstropheWaitress posted:It is perhaps the most ingenious thing about Taskmaster. You really get to meet comedians throughout the ten episodes, and I don't think anyone's done it "playing a character". A few have dropped their act to be on it. It's great. Cool, thanks for the info!! I figured it would go on YT, but like after the whole season airs, or in parts. Nice to know I can check it out and keep up with it weekly.

i wouldn't start with season 7 tbh but it's mostly because i think that rhod gilbert, though funny on his own, is possibly the worst-for-taskmaster contestant they've ever had and i find his antagonism towards the show and the other contestants hard to stand on a rewatch (which sucks, because james acaster is possibly my favorite contestant they've ever had). not the best introduction to the show for that reason; i'd either jump into 4 or 5 or just start from the top and see how they figure out what works and doesn't work for the series edit: i know rhod is part of why a lot of people like season 7 but it's pretty clear that he was on the show to mess with greg over everything else, and even if it gives the in-studio stuff a kick it doesn't lead to great stuff in the other 3/4 of the show. to this day i think he's still the only contestant to actively decide to sabotage his teammates in a task for a lark flatluigi fucked around with this message at 20:56 on Mar 24, 2025 |

Futile and juvenile, perfect setup and punchline every time. TMZ2 has Matt Heath in that role, and the recent season of AUS had one too in Mel. Feels a little presumptuous to say he was only invited on to "mess with greg", the guy does great stuff outside of that too. Sorry for ya that seeing Greg Davies near-naked body for nearly every prize task was a turnoff. MikeJF posted:There's something about Taskmaster that gets people to break down and reveal how deeply weird they actually are and it's great. That's part of the charm of the New Year Treat's too - even putting regularish people on the show usually ends up being pretty revealing. We're all one task involving rubber ducks away from showing the world our true colors. How Game Changer hasn't done their own Taskmaster yet boggles my mind unless Sam is making a legit pass at getting involved in the inevitable US reboot.

If you wanted to pick a season to get someone started with Taskmaster you could do worse than TM NZ 2, come to think of it.

Only didn't recommend that one because it is the best. Been very heartwarming to hear in the podcast that all the contestants are still in a group chat together and regularly chit chat. Gah what a good series that is.

Alex Horne and Sam Reich have met and the topic of doing a new version of taskmaster US (or having the blessing to do a knockoff) has come up, but there's no plans for it CatstropheWaitress posted:To each their own, but "the contestant that actually knows the Taskmaster outside of the series and refuses to accept their authority" is a pretty get contestant archetype. Sorry for ya that seeing Greg Davies near-naked body for nearly every prize task was a turnoff. oh no I'm great with healthy antagonism, I'm talking about how rhod straight up has said in interviews that he didn't have a great time on the show, was mainly there to troll greg, and regrets not having familiarized himself with what the show was like so he could've approached it less antagonistically. it's not presumptuous if it's a thing he actually said lol in one of the same interviews he talks about going too far with Alex to the point that health and safety had to step in and say they couldn't air the segment (apparently he stuffed a full egg into Alex's mouth)

I'm still of the theory, Sam leaving the trailer through an exit sign with his own face tells me. This is Sam's Last Season hosting game changer Because if he's gone, then he won't be here the whole time.

He's the face of dropout and I don't think he's going to leave their second biggest show right as they are (seemingly) beginning to really take off. Plus he's only 40. I think we've got a lot of time with him there left.

The trailer is a smart departure from previous season mystery themes. The last few seasons had too many try hard nerds trying to Sherlock out secrets that weren’t there.

a taskmaster episode randomly autoplayed for me a few months ago and then i went and started watching it from the very beginning, just started series 10 last night they've all been more or less enjoyable, but i think Paul Chowdry, James Acaster, and Nish Kumar have been my favorite contestants so far

My favourite season is 5, every contestant in it gels so well with each other and the studio segments are great. Also you can never get enough Bob Mortimer.

my take with Sam being on the exit door to the studio is that it appears that we're finally returning to having episodes that take place primarily outside the studio

The behind-the-scenes feature for Sam Says 3 mentioned one of their ideas was to initiate a game of tag that would lead them to a second set of podiums in the Vasquez Rocks where they would continue the game, so I could see them developing that into a new idea. Or it could just be that whatever episode uses the brick backdrop added Same's face to the sign on the door as a subtle gag and it doesn't actually mean anything.
