Capitol: A building or complex of buildings in which any legislature meets.
Capital: A city designated as a legislative seat by the government or some other authority, often the city in which the government is located; otherwise the most important city within a country or a subdivision of it.

On a BF2 server with friendly fire damage on: I hopped on top of an enemy Abrams' turret to escape an attack helicopter. Both were very confused and it took way longer than it should have for someone to hop out and shoot me.

In BF4 I got someone spouting chud conspiracy stuff banned by saying "You seem upset" and "Actually the government is good" until he threatened to find me IRL.

2142:
-Getting a roadkill pin when a rookie pilot ended up smashing his gunship against my tank as part of his attack. Somehow that one particular pilot fail has always stuck with me
-Getting on top of the enemy Titan and tossing the anti-tank mines on top of the hangar shield where they'd fly after enemy pilots
-Using enemy anti-tank mines against enemy vehicles with the mine-bait grenade. Got so many engineers kicked from servers for teamkilling that way. Was especially juicy nuking the enemy Goliath.
-Developing what would later become my Shotgun Wookie skillset with the Support's shotgun and scanner/wallhacks equipment.
-Figuring out that the engineer's anti-air launcher was a two-shot grenade launcher that would not only insta-kill infantry but make them un-revivable. Great for close-in infantry firefights!

BF1:
-The entire Goon Squad figures out that defenders on attack-defend maps have infinite revives/no tickets and that bayonet kills are melee kills that don't allow enemies to be revived. Enact successful defenses with never ending Light Brigade Charges.

BF4 with goons whenever we would be in a server with tanklords / skylords (wigitybear, et al) would be great because it became the entire squad's mission to annoy them as much as possible

It makes me happy that JackFrags has battlefield content to get excited for and I can’t wait to watch vids of him effortlessly headshotting poor blokes in a new battlefield while being a laid back cool guy. He won me over to watching game streamers pretty much singlehandedly.

You’re almost free from Verdansk, Jack!!

It does make me wonder though, if there are going to be affiliate programs for 2042 like what CoD has, or if he takes a bit of an earnings hit. Probably streaming is the bulk of it though.

Nah, I always thought BF4 was rotten for visibility too, and was thrilled that I could see what was going on in BF1. Never played V, hear that's the nadir.

BF4 seemed to have worse visibility than BF3, but didn't have the omnipresent blue tint and desaturation that BF3 did. I probably played more 3 than I did 4, but 4 feels a lot more mechanically solid. I'm hoping 2042 is an evolution of that.

I went back to BF4 recently and was very annoyed that they nerfed the RC plane bomb gadget with some long-rear end cooldown period.

it was super lovely to unlock it as a non-skylord like me (something like 50 aircraft destroyed using aircraft) and was a real and good counter to skylords.

Really I just want the gadgets + more from BF4.

OK really really i just want BF4 in 4k60 on my xbox.

I can’t speak for your experience, but I played probably 150 hours of BF4 and never had a specific problem with visibility whereas in 5 I would get shot from shadows or pepper friendlies all the time. It was bad.

Bots confirmed and they’ll look like generic soldiers.

They’re optional though. Like yeah you could have a full pve server but id imagine most mp matches will just be full pvp. I don’t think they’re going for a titanfall bot setup.

There’s precedent for this in both Titanfall games. They obviously aren’t similar game types but the adds in Titanfall games lend a bit of action just by being something to shoot at.

We shall see.

Fired up BF4 again for just a few minutes and logged on to one of those million ticket servers (which seems to be the vast majority of them really, I guess one way to avoid people switching teams to avoid losing is to just have matches that never end) and managed to pull off a jihad quad, feels good after all these years.

Couldn't pull off any suicide planes or choppers though, it's much harder than I remember. Just can't do it. Maybe I need an accomplice to set and detonate the C4.

It's actually been the most active battlefield except for V at its launch forever, most people just play on Origin. Steam just recently even got the game, and it's never been on sale until now, so those numbers don't tell the real story at all. There's usually a ton of full servers 24/7.

I think one thing that would be nice for them to add would be a "simplified" mode for helicopters and jets where a lot of the more complicated aspects of flying are automated(like say for Helicopters on a controller becomes essentially the same as moving or aiming while on foot and most of the stuff relating to the chopper's angles and positioning just gets handled by the computer) , cause the current way they work in these games is probably too complex and unnecessarily "realistic" for the vast majority of this franchise's intended audience(like I have a feeling if the average player has between 50 and 200 hours of play per game, they've probably only touched any air vehicles for maybe 20 minutes worth at the most while probably having several hours of usage of ground vehicles cause the former are so unfriendly in how they control)

Sure keep the more advanced controls in as an option for more skilled players, but the more average player really needs a bone thrown their way

Also buff the gatling guns on transport choppers cause at least in 4 they're pretty useless in terms of both accuracy and damage

Symetrique
Jan 1, 2013

Battlefield flight models aren’t difficult.

The problem is the default control binds and not having a space to practice. Like I don’t know anyone who doesn’t immediately modify the default plane controls to something that makes more sense. There’s really not much else to simplify unless they go with a pure mouse aim mode like swbf2 or war thunder arcade, but at that point there’s no need for more advanced options since they wouldn’t give an advantage against mouseaim.

Hopefully having bots makes it easier for people who want to practice flying without getting murdered by experienced players. Bots contributing to progression should also prevent issues like bfv’s kanonenvogel Stuka, where picking the wrong tier 2 upgrade hosed up your primary load out, making it harder to actually score points.

This may sound like a good idea if you are looking to pilot a helo, but making them easier to fly would be a miserable time for everybody else because littlebirds have always been OP.

If the skill needed to fly them properly drops to "anybody can do it" that would exacerbate the problem even more.

So if they did that, they would also need to provide effective countermeasures or nerf the guns and then the crying from the skies would be deafening.

I usually have very little time in air vehicles because they are always spawn camped. Like, if I want to get into a jet I have to contend with the Obsessed Jet Man who only ever goes for the jet and I just aint gonna stand around waiting for a fuckin plane to spawn when I could be out in the field already, shooting mans. Then when you finally DO get into a jet, you have so little experience with it that you can't contend with the enemy teams Obsessed Jet Man who guns you down immediately

The air controls in battlefield games are not particularly complicated as it is
