I bailed instantly as it was clear this was an impossibly stupid team and last I checked they had a story at the top of their backlog for three years just to migrate to git. Nothing had been improved

lmao what SVN to git is like, an afternoon's work maybe?

three year old backlog issue is nothing though lol. get on my level.

Man all you'd have to do would be replace the selector knob panel with a rubber burger on a curly cable and you'd have an AMERICAN LIFE simulator.

the thing that killed any interest in rails for me was a conference i went to in like uh 2006 where the presenter was doing a live demo of how easy it was to create a CRUD rails app from the command line or whatever and it kept failing over and over. it took like half an hour for him to debug the problem.

motherfucker had written a goddamn book on rails (on a reputable publisher iirc) and still was falling all over himself trying to get it to work

its been 16 years since then tho. sorry to earnestly post but a lot of the criticism im seeing about this dumb language is when it was in its infancy. i started using it in 2012 and by then, at least in my experience it was pretty smooth.

but lol that's s pretty funny conf story overall

yep. flash would have been electron much better, sooner, and with all the profits streaming to adobe had they been even *slightly* competent at engineering and managing it.

they had no long-term vision and insisted that tying it to every possible adobe product shotgun-style was the way forward. It was a security nightmare.

Towards the end some of the hooks into 3D stuff was real neat, might have been a unity competitor but too little too late.
