I'm watching the rescuers for the first time in years and I think this might be my favorite Disney movie. It's so dark and rainy!

Last night I watched Knock At The Cabin, a movie where some guys invade a house very politely. It was fine. |

Last night I watched Bear Island, which is a late 70s Alistair Maclean thriller about secret nazi submarine gold in the arctic. Starring Donald Sutherland as the protagonist and with a great cast otherwise including Vanessa Redgrave, Christopher Lee, Lloyd Bridges, and Richard Widmark. Lots of on location filming and some cool studio sets including a bombed out U-boat pen.![]() It's definitely not in the league of the best Maclean movies like ice station zebra or where eagles dare but I thought it was pretty solid for (what seems like) an essentially completely forgotten movie. free hubcaps fucked around with this message at 11:14 on Aug 18, 2023

Corner Office It's tagged as 'comedy' for some reason. It isn't. It is surreal. Mostly sad. |

i did a marathon of saw saw vi is the best one, and then they followed it up with the worst: saw vii

DoomCroissant posted:i did a marathon of saw 1 is the "best" if you use normal movie criteria imo and while i don't really like 3 at least it has a kinda satisfying if cynical ending. i used to really like 2 but it has one of those twists that are pretty cool initially but if you rewatch the film with it in mind it all just kinda falls apart dramatically, the horrifying scene most people remember for it just doesn't hit nearly as hard when you know what's going on. the others while i don't like them at all in a traditional sense it's super fun just to see how hosed they end up making the timeline with an ever increasing pile of retcons. its like trying to figure out what's going on in primer but instead of people talking in dimly lit rooms people get ripped apart while nu metal plays

so its better than primer, huh |

Philippe posted:so its better than primer, huh i haven't seen primer in a long time tbh but joeks aside, not really no idk the type of violence in saw just does nothing for me i don't find it fun i don't find it exciting i don't find it all that scary or suspenseful it's just a grating kind of misery. there are definitely parts that work but idk it just doesn't really do it for me

Less a movie, more a series of loosely related vignettes. |
