Buttchocks posted:I thought green was jealousy and yellow was fear. early English and Celtic mythology saw green differently, it was often associated with fear and death so in the poem, the green girdle represents Gawain's cowardice, because he flinches both times while wearing it, only to find his courage when he removes the girdle and takes the final blow. (not spoiling what happens in the movie though, it's a solid adaptation of the poem and I could go down a mythology rabbit hole for hours) Rags to Liches fucked around with this message at 18:53 on Nov 6, 2024 |

I enjoyed The Green Knight, it was a really crisp take on the legend. 7/10 Poor Things was excellent, I went into the cinema basically knowing nothing about it having only seen about 5 seconds of trailer, came out stunned. Yorgos is now maybe one of my favourite directors. Check out his other work if you haven't, The Favourite is probably his most accessible 8.5/10 I watched Joker 2 and thought it was good. I get why people hated it though, it flopping proves itself right and I'm there for audience contempt. A couple of different choices maybe would have elevated it more for me but overall I liked it. 7/10 A couple of days ago I watched Under The Skin (2013) which was really good. 7.5/10

I watched the 5th one, but honestly don't recall anything about it at all. having a villain carried away into an anthill is so ridiculous it wraps back around into being funny and entertaining also I liked the peruvian jungle setting regardless of how inaccruate it was and the aliens thing didn't bother me since this is the series that already has 700 year old knights and ghosts that melt your face off not that you brought those things up they weren't amazing, but the moment-to-moment was entertaining enough for what they were, and as a modernized pulp serial, that's all I really wanted out of them

raiders of the lost ark is a genuinely great movie and is probably my favorite of all time. it's genre defining. the perfect action movie. i did not like crystal skull at all, but was pleasantly surprised by dial of destiny. i also really like the fast and the furious movies. they know exactly what they are, which is a series of extremely well executed action sequences strung together by barely enough plot to make you care about the action. missing the mark on making the plot dry or pretentious is how you get crystal skull or one of the bad james bond movies. |

Oh that rang a bell! The last one was the time travel one where they fly WW2 planes through some medieval seige or something, right? Amazing how the words "dial of Destiny" triggered that scene from my memory. |
