i watched the third megazone 23. it's actually a 2-part miniseries instead of a movie, but i figured i'd post it since i posted about the previous two parts.

Buttchocks

No, I like my hat, thanks.
Requiem for a Dream - There's a scene where the two guys are in a supermarket walking through the isles. In this particular supermarket, the salad dressing and baby diapers share an isle. One of those meaningless details that caught my eye and just dominated my imagination of why that would be. What circumstances in someone's life led to that? What small decisions kept snowballing and slippery sloping to create that consequence? How did it come to this? Anyway some other stuff happened in the movie, but that grocery isle still haunts me.

the only thing i remember about john wick 3 is the cameo by yayan ruhian who's probably the best action performer of all time but i don't think the fight was as stylish as the location. john wick 4 is where it's at though what a movie

3 is definitely the least of the series, as evidence by it being the only one with a subtitle. john wick 4 is a masterpiece tho. i saw that opening night and it was the last movie i went to, and the only movie in ten years, i've gone to with a sold out crowd. (technically, i couldn't see wicked because it was sold out but). gently caress man, i think i'll put 4 on right now.

anyways, i capped the night off with "for a few dollars more". i do love that movie so much, it has so much style and panache. the best of the no name trilogy. that and john wick have kinda made me want to make a melee gunfighter class for bg3, but i want a third style of melee gunfighting and don't know any good movies like that. there's the no name/manco style of brawling and quick-draw sharpshooting, and then there's the grapple and cqc style of wick, but what's a third?

if you haven't seen high plains drifter, high noon, and the quick and the dead (sharon stone) then those are some westerns i highly recommend. high noon especially, it just totally goes against what you expect of a western

speaking of horrah, I just ran Secret Window and I still like it. It's predictable, especially if you know King, but it's a pretty good ride and John Turturro is amazing as always

before work i watched il grande silenzio, one of the greatest westerns ever put to film. what an absolutely stunning movie. the way it's shot, the acting, the ending, klaus kinski's villain, just every bit of it is incredible. my favorite corbucci by miles, but it does make me want to see django with franco nero.

Is that the one where he steps on to bike pedals so he can slide around the garage floor that's coated in oil and more effectively kick the bad guy in the nards? If so, hell yeah.

i watched between home. an interesting sailing travelogue, much like chasing bubbles, which i watched earlier.

I have watched many, many, many Jason Statham movies, and I think I can say the dumbest, most Jason Statham one of them all is Hobbs & Shaw.

Iambic Pentameter

Fantastic Mr. Fox

really hilarious and beautifully shot, though i have this problem with all of wes anderson's movies where the climax drags on too long, only one that avoids that is Grand Budapest imo since the movie's so grand in scale it feels like it's justifiably building to that
