JFC, I am sure I already know the answer to this, but I am guessing the LARGE majority of that total are essentially the same cards, just different 'Fractor or color? I try to get into current poo poo but the junk wax era is just too much of a nostalgia bomb and 'simpler'...

I checked just for curiosity sake and you can get them for 3 digits. I was honestly surprised its not higher given the news, but also, I wouldn't want a signed photo of a murderer in my home. Its similar to Chris Benoit memorabilia.

I liked A&G a lot when I was younger, but honestly once I found out you can just buy authentic tobacco cards for cheap I switched over to those lol. I am probably going to buy a couple boxes of Heritage today, despite swearing off wax every time I buy wax.

Yeah, but old tobacco cards don't have Sen Dog and B-Real! Vintage football is tempting but I haven't pulled the trigger on that. Yet. I will say that another thing I like about some modern sets is that aside from complete randos like Cypress Hill and Robert DeNiro is that they also have old dudes like Rickey Henderson or Nolan Ryan as well. I'm really surprised that junk wax era sets didn't do that more than Upper Deck doing Baseball Heroes with Ted Williams and Bench/Morgan. Like just have a rando subset of Team Legends and have a Sandy Koufax or Lou Gehrig in your 1993 Stadium Club.

![]() One of my Heritage boxes was very kind to me! ![]() Also picked up my first TAG slab. These are super sweet but kinda look like rear end on a white background lol. I'm pretty sure I have this card in TAG and SGC 9 now. Might get the PSA 9 for the slabbow

I’ve never heard of TAG
|
|

i may be mistaken but i think they sort of emerged when psa and beckett had huge backlogs some like the modern look of the slab itself

TAG stands for Technical Authentication & Grading and their whole thing is trying to take human judgment out of the equation when grading. It's a common trope that you can send the same card in to PSA a dozen times and get a different grade every time. So TAG uses... I dunno sensors and cameras and AI and stuff to try to make it more standardized. So like if you scan that QR code on the slab it takes you to this page, and if you mess with those sliders you can see the surface analysis and stuff that they do. Scroll down and you get the exact centering, DINGS, etc. You can somehow pay more to get access to more of those metrics, I think. It's obviously not as popular as SGC or PSA, but it does seem to be catching on. There's a lot of people unhappy with PSA in particular (and they just bought SGC, ugh) so I would assume as TAG gets the kinks worked out (they don't do vintage, for example) it will grow in popularity. edit: Also check out their incredible submission kit and compare it to the nightmare that is submitting to PSA. I haven't tried it yet but I plan to pretty soon. camoseven fucked around with this message at 02:31 on Apr 13, 2024 |

Card grading submission doesn't have to be an elaborate rite of passage so I appreciate trying to make it less scary for people but that seems like overdoing it. I've never had problems putting my own stuff in Card Savers, sandwiching them between cardboard, and packing the perimeter with paper & bubble wrap. Like anything, the first time you're nervous and you don't know what to do and it gets easier. PSA didn't buy SGC, their parent company did. It'll probably take a little while for SGC to turn to poo poo but as long as they maintain quick turnaround times and reasonable grading prices it's fine.

LOL, don’t know many other Bichette fans. You gotta let us know if you get the hookup on a card.

Lmao she's trying pretty hard to get something from the team, but glad Topps did her good. If I were her I'd sign every single one, get them graded and sell them off one at a time every few months.

A fan at a Blue Jays game got hit with a 110 mph foul by Bo Bichette. She had a gnarly goose egg above her eye and in a later photo she had an equally gnarly black eye. She has been Tweeting asking for (the ball? How did she not get the ball?) a Bichette autograph or something. (not sure what has come of that though I could totally see that being a liability minefield) Topps made 110 Topps Now cards of her pic with the goose egg and gave them all to her.

I collect Vladdy Jr so when I get spots in breaks for Jays I'll keep track of any Bichettes I get and let you know.

![]() Hit the Midwest Monster card show this weekend and had a blast. Went in with $300 and a goal to get a Willie Stargell rookie, ended up accomplishing that goal PLUS finishing his whole playing career Topps run (I already had like 75% of it, the big ones I was missing were the rookie and 2nd year). The rookie has poo poo corners but a great price. The 71 and 75 are beat to poo poo so I'm gonna look at replacing those eventually. The rest are in great shape and would grade well if I ever want to do that, but I think I'd rather get a cool frame to show them all off. Maybe with a cut sig in the middle if I can ever afford one!

A Stargell cut signature or index card is not going to cost much. Maybe $20 max? He is a common signature.

Quick look on eBay, it looks like you can get stuff like signed 8x10's or random signed cards for under $30-$40. If you want something like a Topps Definitive 1/1 Cut Auto, those are into the hundreds of dollars. But some of those don't have a picture of him on the card, so I'd actually prefer one of the older, cheaper ones! e: This one is actually pretty cool though.

Welp, I was so close to my goal that I bought up a few more. I have finally collected over 1000 Bo Bichette cards! 1003, to be exact. Turns out I have over 500 duplicates as well. That's a lot of Bo. If you care to, you can check out which 1003 cards they are at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12pyrOlqMBStRTWcUnjBVGk22S_x-1yuw-GvN9Wqh6mM/edit?usp=sharing I spent 8 hours yesterday manually applying a proprietary unique ID to each toploader, sorting cards by year, then sorting by ID within the years. The result is that my cards in my BCW Card Boxes are now in the order you see in the spreadsheet above.

Oh a personalized SKU system is a good idea. I don’t have nearly as many Reggie Miller cards as you have Bichette, but over the last couple months have started to dive back into collecting and Jesus is it hard to keep track of what I have an don’t have. Especially with the newer releases and 75 variants of a single card.

I grabbed the full list of 7000+ Bo cards from TCDB.com, sorted by year, then made a unique ID by using year-number: 16-0001, 19-1234, 23-0069, etc. For 2024 I am just manually tracking the 2024 cards I get, then at the end of the year when no other set will be released for 2024 I will grab the full 2024 list from TCDB and apply the same numbering to them. It's not very intuitive to find the full lists on TCDB, so here's a link for all 3061 Reggie Miller cards: https://www.tcdb.com/Person.cfm/pid/7648/col/1/yea/0/Reggie-Miller?MODE=PRINT&ColType=1&sYear=0&sTeam=&sCardNum=&sNote=&sSetName=&sBrand=

Way, way, way back in the day, I remember an article in Beckett about someone putting together a complete collection of Brooks Robinson cards. This was long ago enough that the entire collection was in displayed in a single long shadow box. I see there are now nearly 7K Brooks Robinson cards. LOL.
