My first car was a purple dodge grand caravan but that thing rocked for college because I was the only one of all my buddies with a car and we could pack six people and groceries and poo poo in it. I didn’t know you shouldn’t drive it if the power steering failed so I burned out an expensive pump driving to spend money I didn’t have on Guitar Hero for the dorm.

i learned to drive on 3 cars: a ford tempo, a pontiac sunbird and a chrysler sebring. the tempo was by a wide fuckin margin the worst of the three. however i've been dailying an mr2 since 2016 and that has worked out pretty well for me.

My aunt had a brown Tempo in the late 80s and I got depressed just looking at it as a kid. Which MR2? I’m jealous. I never got to own the SW20 I wanted and now they’re all clapped the gently caress out. That little AW11 was a rocket even with 120hp since it weighed nothing.

The cavilars were great. They were inexpensive to buy and easy to repair cause parts were cheap. I had a '93 z24 I got used for college and replaced it with a '04 $10,500 new. Manual transmission. In those days, you could get a set of tires for under $200.

Piece of poo poo, green 1980 Holden Gemini was my first car in 1999. Turned it into a bush bomb, sold it to my friend for $50, he gave it to his brother in law to fix up and it became his first car, in like 2010. Pretty sure its somehow still going.

1988 Chevy Nova, which was Chevy building the previous gen Toyota Corolla at a special plant they ran to try to emulate the Toyota production method and learn how to make cars that didn't fall apart. While being totally uninspiring to drive, what with a total of about 80hp and a 3 speed automatic, it did go for about 500,000 miles without ever needing anything other than wearable parts replaced.

That's a hell of a hole for a country's reputation to climb out of. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrysler_LeBaron

My first car was a 1993 Chevy Cavalier and drove it with my learner's permit. When it hit 100,000 miles, it would randomly try to start itself. Owned only Hondas until I bought a MK3 Focus ST during a manic episode in April. I regret it, but I like it. Also have a 12th gen Ecoboost F-150 that a feral chicken has decided to roost on nightly, so running the heater makes the interior smell like a chicken coop.

First car I ever drove was a Land Rover Discovery because my dad is a masochist and thought one of those would be interesting to own (it was, for his wallet). First car I owned was an ‘89 325iS coupe, which we only recently sold. It’s been mostly stored since I moved to Japan, and kind of became a ‘stick or twist’ time with it, and then my dad somehow found a buyer by complete accident. I’ve since gone and found a BMW 118i which will free me from having to use a share car service for making Costco runs.

Some weird break point between how much force it can catch off the wind while reducing drag from the forward face it presents? Would be cool to see more on the design

It’s just a giant airplane wing basically on its side. you want it rigid like that because of how fast you’re going, like an airplane Edit: you might ask why don’t airplanes move easily on the ground then in high winds. They do. If you don’t tie down planes they fly away on their own. Also they are more massive and have more ground friction from all the gear whereas this thing is designed to reduce ground friction like an ice skate ethanol fucked around with this message at 14:59 on Dec 12, 2022 |
