Somehow, one of our executives seemingly melted(?) his SSD. His is the bottom one, included a different one on top as a point of comparison He complained to my boss that his laptop kept blue screening and saying it didn't have a drive, and then would reboot and work fine for a while. Looking at it, I'm shocked it booted at all for as long as it did

I would also call manufacturing defect or design error, it doesn't look sticky or proper melted.

IIRC in US employment law, contacting the previous employer only allows them to ask them and previous employers for and receive confirmation that you work/ed there. If they trash you, or the potential employer even asks for anything other than that (there's always wiggle room because capitalist Utopia) they can run afoul of employment lawyers that are always hungry. Now I need to go look it up.
