FFS we spent this morning trying to get files onto a drive of hers only to find out it’s NTFS, and just now hours later she’s handed me another identical seagate drive which is extfat and said “I also have this one “

Yeah I had similar with my dad a while back. The power cable from his laptop was snaked around over the back of the couch he uses it at, and it had slowly worked its way into to mechanism of the recliner seat. He was very slowly sawing it away, which wouldn't have been a huge problem except he'd also broken the cable that connects the handle to the lock on the reclining mechanism, so he was operating it by sliding forward and manually moving the metal bar. He said his laptop wouldn't charge one day and as I was investigating the whole drat thing started sparking. Dude nearly killed himself via laziness.

They're calling references for the job and my boss just rescheduled my annual performance assessment from next week to October. She's getting blindsided by this because she hasn't made herself available to speak to for weeks and I haven't gotten a read receipt on the heads up email I sent a week ago so 🤷♀️ Anyways, good sign? (I am not a confident person, thanks Dad)

Place I want to work has started calling my references, which Im told is the end-stage of pre-hiring.... and suddenly, call from other place I contracted for with an immediate offer  Scheduled a sit-down next week with the latter. Presumably I'll hear from the former before then.

Sadly that one was part of the yak-shaving I had to untangle a few years back. Started with "the website for my antivirus won't work" and I found out that my father-in-law's credit card had been stolen at some point and he just hadn't noticed
