I had never heard of this having not used IOS in about 10 years but I was interested so I checked it out. Just wanted to point out that the first result for my google search was for stop the madness mobile which says "IMPORTANT: New customers should purchase StopTheMadness Pro rather than StopTheMadness Mobile, which will receive no new features."

It's kind of hard to miss if you are just skimming.

Edit: I meant easy to miss

I switched from a pihole to an unnecessarily expensive hardware firewall box with adblocking "firewalla gold" on my home network (hey it helps my ping out too)

Around the same time I tested adguard dns adblocker and opted into a family plan when it was on sale for like $28-38 for a lifetime 7 device thing and they work together and with a few minutes of tinkering adguard works on iphones even though they hate you changing DNS servers for some reason.

If I really wanted to go hogwild I could bring the pihole back as well in tandem but it works so well I had to whitelist a bunch of sketchy stuff my wife likes so it won't break the page or app.

It even blocks her mobile ads for whatever game so she can get gems by clicking an ad that never shows up.

Great for everything but maybe YouTube or twitch, I'm one of those sickos that pays for YouTube/music, though I'm on a free one year trial atm instead.

Yep. Almost never worth it. $50 for carry on for a $50 cheaper ticket when you book.
You don't even break even on it because literally everything else about your flight will be enshittified, smaller seat, dirtier plane, even uglier flight attendants somehow.

Google Photo does not provide a way to bulk delete photos

gently caress me that is downright evil. I can either pay $7 to use somebody's Google Photo Delete extension or run a script that selects all visible photos on the screen and asks to delete them so at least it's semi-automated

If you sort by "month" instead of "day" or "comfortable", you can delete a month's worth of photos at a time

They should make an interview rule that if you can demonstrate and explain an effective cheating strategy you're an automatic hire based on the fact you're smarter than the people already making decisions there.

United had been completely egregious with their up charges in the last year or so. Looking at an extra $80 for an exit row seat these days. Even just sitting somewhere that’s not the rear end end of the plane is $20-30.

It's very clear that they've used the seat selection map data to heatmap where people choose to sit and then added a loving upcharge to all but the bottom ~15% of seats. There's a sweet spot around row 25 or so where the aisle seats still cost extra, but the window seats don't. I just sit in the loving back now on purpose. Closer to the shitter anyway.

Also got asked to upgrade to business class for a flight from Denver to Boston for 1800 dollars

A couple of months ago I had a job interview involving a coding exam where I was somehow supposed to make API endpoints for an e-commerce system involving only two models: user and subscription. It made absolutely no loving sense and I told them as much, and was told "we want to see how you would react if you were assigned to this project for real", to which I replied "I wouldn't, because there is absolutely no way this could work under any realistic conditions".

Not only that, but the exam was completely broken in the state that they sent it to me. I had to manually fix their code to get the loving thing to run. I asked if that was part of the test and, after a little hesitation, they said that it was. I made a simple DB schema to replace their stupid poo poo and wrote a few endpoints to interact with it.

I did not get the job because they felt I was unable to work with existing codebases. Honestly, if their code is that loving awful in real life then I dodged a bullet right there.

avg coding exam experience honestly. as somebody who conducts a lot of technical interviews i can assure you they are a total crapshoot. the people who conduct the panels often barely have any experience doing it.

My wife went to an interview at a very famous tech company you already used their products this morning if you wanted to or not. They asked the question wrong and my wifey explained the entire thing and gave them an answer.

She is painfully polite in business settings so I'm sure she crushed them as nicely as possible. No offer.

I understand issues with the interview process but I always thought conducting technical interviews is pretty easy. You just nudge them to the right answer until they figure it out. You can learn a lot just by listening to what they get wrong.

If you eventually get it right and I have to say "Yo its simpler than that I'm not trying to torture you" then you're doing ok.
