credburn posted:I went to the county fair yesterday and rode the Gravitron ("Starship 2000"). I haven't been on one since I was a teenager, and while the experience was alright, there was something I was really baffled by, which is that I could barely move. I was pressed against the wall and could barely move my arms, let alone my legs. But when I was a kid, we'd all stand up on the walls, or crawl around. I can't tell if the new Gravitrons spin faster, or if it's just that I'm forty fuckin years old now and don't have the tiny legs and strength to do that sort of poo poo? I'm right around 40 and can still stand up on the walls of those but if you're not riding them primarily to watch people vomit five pounds of corn dogs and have it immediately fly back into their face you are missing the best aspect.

Last time I went to the local fair we shared a bunch of garbage food and then went on all the rides (gravitron included!) I wasn't feeling great during the 20 min ride home and by the time my friend dropped me off I bolted inside and just barfed and barfed lol it sucked. I'm just grateful I held out & didn't have to do it out the window of her car going down the interstate I don't think I've been on a ride since, so I am also the thread title

we went to the fair last year and did a regular ufo gravitron and the one that tilts to an acute angle and they both kicked rear end

Realistic sci-fi show. "hey welcome to the ship. Good news, we have artificial gravity, so don't need to worry about the whole floating around all the time thing, um bad news you will be throwing up, just a whole lot, for the first three months. We have plenty of baff bags all around the ship, please use them as much as needed, and disposes of them properly. ...also please do not step on any of the many random brown bags that are left on the floor. It really does make the clean up so much harder.

lol I was on the Gravitron this past Fall and I lost my phone like an idiot but the guy who ran the ride was an old pro at finding lost phones. He was great. I thanked him profusely, and while making small talk I asked him if got dizzy on the ride and he answered "all day". Kinda sad.

Just got some Twizzlers tonight for movie night with the kids, and they tasted like nothing. Just no flavor of any kind whatsoever.

I just learned about the term "gate lice". I love it. I love being a gate louse and standing in a vague sort of clump of a line for no reason for no purpose just because some alarm went off in my head and I felt like I had to get up and join the herd. I feel like it's just a symptom of the way air travel fucks with your head

It's a derogatory term for the people who cluster around the boarding line in the way before it's their turn to board, blocking the people whose turn it is. Originally from the flyertalk forums I think.

I "talked" to a chat GPT program and selected from the options that there was nothing in the box, which apparently happens enough to elicit its own branch on the option tree, and they are sending another package. God is in His heaven and all is well.

All right, Plex has hosed me for the last time. What's everybody else using to stream? I'm using Kodi right now, but the interface is hideous and the reliance on meticulous file name organization is exhausting. Does anyone have a preference between Jellyfin and Emby? Are there any other contenders? Is there any reason this has to be so goddamn difficult?
