I LOVE WORDS. THAT'S ALL.

Rogue AI Goddess posted:

I had high expectations going into this, yet many of them brought me nothing but disappointment. We are still wandering around in the fog with nary a clue, and too many of us show no interest or ability to change that woeful state of things. If this was a book, this would be the time when I'd look up spoilers to see if it gets better at some point.

Yet all this despondency is dwarfed by the disappointment I feel towards one person in particular: Victor "False Advertisement And Queerbaiting" Hugo.

It turns out that, despite the name, Les Miserables is not a book about miserable lesbians! Rather, it's about some overzealous cop named Javert who unironically says "I am the law" and spends the entire plot chasing the same guy for stealing a loaf of bread (or something, I didn't read too deeply).

Anyway, now that my immersion is ruined forever, and given the earlier point about our clueless fog-wandering, I think it's a good moment to dispense with old flavorposting RP and bring some new information to the table:

1. My character is Javert from Les Miserables. Wikipedia describes him as "defined by his legalist tendencies and lack of empathy for criminals of all forms".

2. I am a Town-aligned tracker.

3. My extra gimmick, based on Javert's obsessive tendencies, is that I have to keep investigating the same person for multiple nights in a row.

4. Sandwolf did absolutely nothing on Night 1 and did so successfully. My attempt to determine this fact was also successful, and I will repeat it again tonight.

2 - 4 - 6 - Whoa - 1 way to play it, I suppose

Sandwolf not going anywhere has no indicator on alignment.

Maybe he's a scum role that doesn't need to visit.

I believe Rogue's claim however, for whatever that's worth.

A lot of day 1 posts about flavor speculation, and the unreasonable assertion that the narrow pool of people who posted during a turbo on town without voting for it MUST include scum.

Same, especially since I'd have to get a visa to get there.

Thankfully, J.A.V.E.R.T. (Justice Algorithm Vigilantly Empowering Relentless Tracking) is superior to its fleshy namesake, so I have other options besides death. I can also swap to a new suspect after a given number of turns. Provided that I live that long, I will let you all know when the timer expires so that you can make suggestions.

Glad to know improvements can be made. And personally I think it's better for you to make the decision yourself about night actions. Publicly announcing what you are doing just lets scum work around that.

For example: If Sandwolf is scum, he and his teammates now know that he shouldn't do the kill or take any negative action.

I don't think that that pool MUST include scum. Just that it's more likely to, and it gives me a way to narrow my focus. Especially after a D1 turbo which didn't provide a lot of information to town.

Scum typically have a factional nightkill. The scum team just choose who does the nk, it’s not necessarily part of the individual’s power.
