Well it’s my understanding that after Biden made it clear he was running again as the incumbent, the A list Democrats with presidential ambitions stood aside & didn’t launch campaigns. I think the idea was they’d have little chance, would irritate party leadership & donors, and would hurt their chances in 2028.

Biden can pull this out as long as he's not actually a complete husk of a person. Multiple live events with him engaging with the crowd and looking significantly more virile than he did on the debate stage should be about all it takes. You get him out and about and blame his illness and the format and I would think the damage could be minimized. Who knows if he's actually capable of that at this point though.

Biden would've had to either be explicit that he was done after one term (he never did, might've implied it a few times at most), or sucked as a president (he hasn't!) to get Democrats to throw in. There were lots and lots and lots of Doctored Biden videos by the RNC/Trump, then he'd do a big thing like an interview, SOTU speech, or whatever and that would get tamped down. This debate was the first time Doctored Biden 100% fully showed up. Grip it and rip it posted:Biden can pull this out as long as he's not actually a complete husk of a person. A lot of this could already be priced in, but a big ol' TBD if he can do it.

Mr. Nice! posted:Whole lot of Jan. 6th convictions just got tossed. The key bit appears to be if the Jackson concurrence actually has power. She set out a pretty clear roadmap - it's based on documents. So, if the person was trying to stop Congress from processing the electoral count, their prosecution can still be live. Also supposedly on the Chevron toss-out, the Roberts opinion said that everything relying on Chevron up to this point was still good and doesn't need to be overturned. That naturally won't hold in the more conservative circuits! Edit: Garland sure thinks the Jackson concurrence is live and only affects the margins, like sentencing. https://x.com/AaronBlake/status/1806710678859760021?s=19 facialimpediment fucked around with this message at 16:28 on Jun 28, 2024 |

The Court had to revise its opinion demolishing Chevron because the guy who thinks courts should be in charge of interpreting environmental regulations doesn't know the difference between NO2 and N2O.
