The thing that stuck out to me more was Fletcher's completely asinine statement that jazz is dying because not enough psychopaths like him were abusing hundreds of people on their pathological quest to justify it all by producing a perfect musical machine. Movie was still great and I completely forgot Paul Reiser plays Neeman's dad. There's definitely parts of the movie that read like Chazelle was writing an art student's revenge fantasy, particularly the scene where Neeman insults his cousins and his uncle for being loser sports sportsball jocks. That scene felt more like it was for the writer than it was for the movie. But on an acting and filmmaking level it's super fun to watch and the finale is terrific.

Its especially funny that for all his psychotic abuse to try and forge a new great musician, Fletcher himself only plays basic crowd pleasing elevator music when not conducting and hating every minute of it while bemoaning his self-described death of a musical genre. Bastard deserved it.

Certainly can. On the rewatch I like the way the film contrasts his piano plinking with how fast and brutal he makes Neeman play.

sure thats meaningful i think part of what makes the story work is that a lot of jazz people literally are like that. as a sort of inherently competitive genre people get really weird brains when they take it seriously

Finished Ace Attorney Investigations 2 tonight and while I'm not sure if it's my favorite game in the series it's probably the most consistently great game in the series. All of the cases are good and all of them lead into the finale
