Fish are neat.

So is finding scum, and I'm not really feeling either iggy or mycelia. I'm sold enough on molly to have foregone the initial finder's fee, but would happily go back to voting a lurker like tmor

Say what you like but the plan is definitely in the spirit of a wol game. Maybe if the zookeeper likes what we do we'll get more fish!

I'm kind of assuming it's not going to happen at this point though.

There is actually no shortage of lurkers so far. I know I've been busy/coasting but I'm still somehow middle of the pack

Tsie has said he's busy as well, Hal and TMor are habitual D1 lurkers, wait why is Cube so quiet? Is he in a bunch of games?

This is what I'm talking about though. The lurking itself is non alignment indicative. But it sure makes it hard to get reads on the relevant people.

What I'm hearing is that we need to vote votefinder

But yeah policy voting lurkers d1 is my effort to invest in our future even if nobody likes it

Habitual d1 lurkers or not, tmor and hal stand out a bit as particularly content free so I guess I'd start there if we go this way

So here's an idea that might help us GET MORE FISH

Everybody has a number in the OP. Use the letter of the alphabet that corresponds to that number as the first letter of your fish. Nobody uses somebody else's letter! There are lots of fish!

Like if you are #16 you can use P, and nobody else can.

It may be too late for this today but it's an idea.

Would work for early game, but once claims start getting out there I can see scum using this to prevent specific people recharging their powers. OTOH I guess there's an opportunity cost in that it's not guaranteed and scum don't get to charge their own powers when doing this.

(Also I already subbed my fish so it's too late)

I’m a bit interested in cube lurking. Not normal behavior at all, esp on a d1 involving a lot of mechanics chat. Could just be busy of course but it’s way stranger than, say, tmor lurking d1.

I’ve been very busy and I won’t lie, my general mood this week has made having interest in mafia difficult. If I need to be the victim of the low-content kill I accept that. I’m going to do my best this morning to motivate myself to mafia more though.

I’ve read over Iggys thing again, kind of on the fence at the moment. Plan feels townie on the surface, but if he’s scum and can rally his scum mates to post more then it seems like an excuse to murder town. Sure, town can also try and post more but then they are open to the “look at this scum trying to save themselves” attacks.

I haven’t really wrapped my head around the yuming part of it yet though, maybe that adds in a dimension that makes it make more sense.

Ok never mind I read it all again with yumings thing in mind and now it all makes sense

Although it still just kind of transfers the “vig town” piece to yuming, but it seems less insidious.

I don't think this was a joke vote, it was an "I am pinged by this post" vote and it made me wonder because I townread fos for the same post. But on the face of it it's an easy post for scum to look at and go "wow that looks like a lie doesn't it!"

Does that make any sense to anyone. Probably not.

One day I will proofread my posts well, but today is not that day.

Iggy claimed his thing is a dayvig, so I'm willing to give him space to prove that tomorrow. I doubt scum would be given a dayvig, though I've been burned by that before so I will continue to look at posts.

My big problem with the Iggy/yuming plan is that it involves targeting people for a kill only based on post counts, not reads. That doesn't feel like Iggy, who combines night action with reads.

Right now I'm assuming Iggy can only target the lowest post count player, and I feel like he's come up with pre-justification for why shooting them will always be a good call, regardless of the content of their posts. That's what is bothering me about his plan.

Also, I've been in that lurker camp where I was low post count for the first few days of game, and then sprang up and solved it all. I've also been scum lurk to win.
And I always have a soft spot in my heart for the lurkers, posting is hard sometimes you all!

Like I've said before I think this is not a great plan for exactly the reason you give here, but I also think it's a reasonably town-Iggy plan to come up with. I just think he's overvaluing the value of making scum post more because like, the incentives are the same for everyone and I don't think it markedly improves the quality of any reads. tldr townlean on Iggy but still not happy with the plan.

SporkChan posted:

You think yuming is a cop, who will kill every town person she scans, and only fail on 3P or scum, and you want her to use that ability?

The opportunity cost is so high for that. It's not worth it. Especially since if she's wrong town is down a player immediately, and if she's right we still have to vote the person out.

Yuming is a threat, though probably not scum.

But Iggy being okay with that is and advising she keep using the ability is scummy.

##vote Iggy

Iggy collected a few apparently genuine votes over his vig plan and maybe it's just because I can't see him as scum at all but every one of them feels manufactured to me.

Having a terrible idea (assuming you think it such) isn't in itself a scumtell, indeed I would think scum would avoid putting themselves out there in this way.
