We should be able to avoid that attack if Letty sets up Song of Speed and then moves to I3. When Kir goes, the sand devil moves the Lavaflow to the spot that the Flame Demon was in, then he immobilizes it with strangling chain and jumps to G1.

It also works if we don't move the Lavaflow and Letty steps to C3 but that sticks her behind difficult terrain. The Lavaflow would take an extra damage though.

I like that plan for Letty and Kir.

Boris is going to pick up the last chest this turn, so there'll be a normal icestorm to deal with at C1 next turn, for what it's worth. Letty's going to have to put the jets on.

I vote for the I3 letty plan

Letty also needs to pop her major stamina potion for the running portion next round recover all current discards as she will have three

Kir is going to end up in the southern G1 after he goombastomps his way down there.

Letty has full hp and cards to spare so next turn she needs to start her running away strategy and go fast so the savvas don't block the doorway on her.

On the next turn, if Boris uses the boots, he can get close enough to Letty to be targeted by Marching Beat and Letty can still use her move 6. Seems like we can close it out rather quickly. Boris would just need to go before 32

As long as invisible characters can be targeted by ally effects like Marching Beat, Boris can absolutely satisfy that condition.

It does leave Letty as the target of 2 savvas, though, which might be painful.

From the manual: If a figure is invisible, it cannot be focused on or targeted by an enemy. Invisibility does not affect a figure's interactions with his or her allies.

Boris is going to Leap Toward Victory ending beside the trap in the middle room, at G2 (using the big jump + boots + movesong), then shoot the lavaflow and go invisible.

Letty can either Marching Beat on Boris to get us out faster, but I think it'd be better if Letty queues up another disarm, targeting the worst action between the two Savvas, and just got herself toward the door.

well, we're disarming the icestorm I guess! I think the plan we set out works:

Letty can move 6 to the difficult terrain at F1 and disarm the icestorm
Kir can move 4 (with speedsong) to A1 and chill
Boris can move 8 (with boots+speedsong) to G2 in the middle room and plink the lavaflow

Sounds good, seconding this. The sand devil can move off then back onto the lavaflow. Do a damage and be ready to drag it away next turn if its going to block Boris.

Sand Devil can't move off the lava flow because it doesn't have another enemy to bounce into, it will just drag the lava flow along.

I suggest we use it to pull the lava flow into the back room there so it wastes its next turn either chasing us or doing nothing while boris does a nap

This is correct. The full text is: Place the Sand Devil in an adjacent empty hex. It is considered a trap for the purposes of monster focusing and movement. At the start of each of your turns, you may move it up to 2 hexes, and you may force any figure on it to move with it. Any time a figure moves onto the devil or vice versa (not when moving together), the figure suffers 1 damage and gains MUDDLE.

Kir will go 3 with burn away the dark to F1 and raise shield spikes for exp.

Sounds good. If Boris left the lavaflow at 1hp the sand devil should hop off and back on to kill it. Otherwise drag it through the door to the room above. Or If Boris killed it, move the devil towards the icestorm.

Heya TIG I think we're good now with plenty of hp for our last few steps. But Letty was supposed to marching beat on Boris to move him down farther before moving herself, and if we could have the sand devil move down too, it might get a chance to move the savvas away or muddle it if needed.

That said, can we call this one a win or does Boris want to grab some coins on his way out?

Kir can blade dance + healing sands at 29 for an xp from healing and exit, keep the sand devil moving towards the enemy, dragging it farther away if theres an opportunity
Letty can go at 32 with marching beat and mobilizing measures, marching beat Boris if he's faster and in range, then move 6 out with an xp.

yup! Boris can saunter into the escape zone early, Kir can fiddle for XP, and Letty can move6 in and get a bit more XP herself.

I don't think there's anything this nerd can do to us to stop us from winning. Thanks for giving us the do-over, TIG!

Let's discuss where our party should head to next! Since we've unlocked a bunch of stuff, I'm going to use a new app to show the Scenario Tree, since it provides some extra info on Campaing progression (IE: which Scenarios are part of which storyline) and it's more estetically pleasing


NOTE: we only know the basic creature and tiles composition for a Scenario at first; if we choose to pick one, I'll provide additional details (such as the map layout, creatures stat cards - and ability deck if we've met them before - and always active Scenario Effects).

Available Scenario Locations posted:

  • We can now access the Ancient Cistern (26) and discover what was poisoning the City well, since we have access to Water-Breathing magic! Completing this Scenario will allow us to continue the main Quest.

  • The Librarian, Dominic, has asked us to help him keeping up a bargain he tried to strike (for the wellbeing of Gloomhaven, of course). He wants us to get into a place called the Oozing Groove (72). Doesn't it sound lovely? Completing this Scenario will allow us continue reading the Town Records.

  • If we want to free the Voice we we can brave the Ancient Defense Network (40) to reclaim its final vessel! This will continue the Voice's questline.

  • If instead you think the Voice is lying, we can enter the Realm of the Voice (42) and try to put and end to it. This will continue the Voice's questline.

  • If we want to investigate the Crypt in the Corpsewood, we may head towards the Noble's Crypt (SoX1). This is part of Letty's PQ and may help in completing Kir Kanos's one as well.

  • While exploring the Echo Chamber, we have found a map leading to an Underwater Lagoon (64) in the middle of the Misty Sea, sout-east of Gloomhaven; maybe it'll contain some treasure? This is a side Scenario.

  • We bargained with a Valrath merchant and bought a scroll with the "location to untold riches" from him. These alleged riches are in the Sunken Vessel (93). This is a side Scenario.

  • As suggested, we could also try any Scenario we've unlocked (including ones we've already faced) in Casual Mode. Players can still gain experience and money, loot treasure tiles, complete battle goals, and make progress toward completing their personal quests, but any story text or rewards listed at the end of the scenario are disregarded. Contrary to normal game play, we'll encounter City/Road events in Casual mode as well - to make things easier to manage and display more content. If we pick Casual Mode I'll add something to spice it up.

Also for how difficult this scenario was, the rewards are very disappointing. No items, prosperity or group gold? Even the XP is a bit unspectacular. I say we deserve at least a random item blueprint.
