I legitimately think the Red Sox made the right decision in doing nothing at the deadline. If the starters get hot, the players they have are good enough to win a championship. If the starters stay cold, well, no amount of help is going to save them so why deplete an already depleted farm system more?

2015 Cubs: 49-32 and 48-33 2017 Cubs: 48-33 and 44-37 A lot of it boils down to matchups and who hits on certain days.  My comment I guess was meant for an extended period of time in baseball, it sort of evens out. The last like 10 years the postseason home teams won like, 50% of their games or something. Pointing out some team sucks because they lost two games AT HOME to a team that's ahead of them in the standings is meaningless. The home part is absolutely meaningless. Edit: I might have misunderstood but the problem is plainly pitching and I dont know if even a Greinke level addition would have made them title favorites but it would probably push them over the hump into the post season and everything is a crap shoot from there.
