Since my question was never answered before:JGBeagle posted:If I voted to reduce legalization down to LSD, would I be starting at one vote again? Because I don't agree with heroin and cocaine being legal. Mostly because I don't want to vote for it and have it end back up at just one measly vote.

Sorry! Yeah, votes for any proposals conflicting with those that are implemented are reset to zero. (this is to avoid a situation where an implemented proposal could be canceled or reverted the very next turn, if the votes were very close) Btw, Age of Wonders III is a p great game if any of you were wondering ![]()

A note on the last vote: Since there were two opposing proposals for the drug tax, I decided to count the votes of those who didn't specify (Nyaa, Banemaster, Mycroft Holmes) for the maximum drug tax proposal. If you did in fact prefer the other proposal, tell me and I'll retroactively recount before the next vote. Also some of you voted for two things - still only one vote per person, unless you are awarded a Party Title (by competition or arbitrary decision). I only counted the vote for the first policy in your post. ![]() ![]() The final tally: More prostitution! 12 PC, no budget change - (15)+5=20 votes Haifisch, Lord Tywin, Aesculus, Wagrid, Caufman Implement state housing, 13 PC, -17.13 Bn per quarter - (11)+3=14 votes Perestroika, TaurusTorus, SirArthurIV ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Monorail!, 14 PC, -8.15 Bn per quarter - (9)+4=13 votes TravelLog, anilEhilated, JGBeagle, Charlie72 Remove restrictions on abortion, 26 PC, no budget change Bn per quarter - (6)+2=8 votes Tetrodo, Samari45 Implement Recreational Drugs Tax, maximum level, 8 PC, +6,59 Bn per quarter - (2)+5=7 votes CommissarMega, kaiten80, Nyaa, Banemaster, Mycroft Holmes Implement Recreational Drugs Tax, 2/3 of max, 8 PC, +4.8 Bn per quarter - 4 votes Senerio, TheMcD, Broenheim, Nuramor Enact Labour Day Bank Holiday, 3 PC, no budget change - 3 votes Geokinesis, Eumenides, Torrannor Implement Junk Food Tax, maximum level, 6 PC, +320 Mn per quarter - (2)+1=3 votes Master of None, Increase Dinking Age to 21, 2/3 of max, 13 PC, no budget change - 2 votes Robhol, paragon1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ![]() The LFAP finally manage to implement the last part of their "Less booze, more drugs and hookers"-platform. There is the usual discontent from the expected groups, but the party leadership is unfazed. ![]() The liberal party wing's success is followed by another victory for the socialist faction of the party with the implementation of a popular program for state housing, to combat the problems with poverty and homelessness. Some critique is directed at the expensiveness of the program in the uncertain economic climate, but the proponents insists that the long term effects will outweigh any costs. ![]() Unfortunately, the start of the next quarter is unauspicious, however. ![]() There is dissent among the ranks, as one of the few ministers with capitalist-conservative sympathies informs the party leadership that she is having an increasingly hard time seeing a future for her in the government. ![]() The slight market upturn last quarter turns out to have been merely the calm before the storm, as another global market crisis hits. ![]() The sudden influx of cheap drugs is starting to take a toll on productivity and health throughout the country, further fueling the anger of the parents. ![]() Despite the market crash and the expensive housing programs, Germany is still showing a healthy surplus. ![]() Alcohol taxes are still the third largest source of income, despite the declining consumption. ![]() The state housing program makes a large dent in the budget however, being the fourth biggest expense. ![]() The LFAP's approval ratings drop by ten percent, mostly due to the loss of support from parental groups. ![]() The drop in homelessness is already becoming apparent, however. ![]() And the alcohol problems decline once more, though the renewed economic crisis is of course a factor. ![]() The disloyalty of minister Mayer is becoming a problem. ![]() A short list of potential replacements have been compiled. Replacing Mayer will cause a drop of loyalty with all other ministers, but it is preferable to her causing a scandal. Some suggest that keeping her around by throwing the capitalist-conservatives a bone could be preferable as she is a pacifying influence on them, but it is entirely possible that it may already be too late. ![]() ![]() What to do about our Foreign Minister? Keep her around! or Replace her - Specify with whom! Replace with Nadine And Tax drugs to 2/3rds. Too high and we risk them simply going back to the crims, after all. We can always raise them later once we've killed off the black market.

Replace her with Gunther, Maximize the drug tax. Hopefully that will bring down drug use so that it stops being a problem (it won't). Our GDP is going to be in the toilet forever now. ![]() Also the black market isn't simulated at all. All voting for 2/3 does is limit the (very dubious) benefits of legalizing drugs and then taxing them. paragon1 fucked around with this message at 21:18 on Apr 2, 2014 |

Bobbin Threadbare posted:Is Democracy able to simulate how state governments have minds of their own when you're playing as the United States, or is it just federal level management only with maybe some random events tossed in? Nope, for the purposes of the game the government is basically omnipotent, except for the constraints of political capital and ministers occasionally throwing hissyfits. I'd love to see more struggles with local governments and perhaps even intra-party politics, but I can see how that would be outside the intended focus of the series (the macro-level effects of policymaking), as well as being hell for approachability. Eastbound Spider posted:Hey, Covski, what is the deal with Trade Council? ![]() The trade council is a neat little policy, being cheap both in euros as well as PC. (I also like the icon with the little guys in hats) ![]() It provides a boost to international trade as well as foreign relations (which also boosts foreign trade). ![]() A reminder about the international trade statistic - its main function is boosting GDP, though it also increases air travel which is bad for the environment.

Voting for maximum drug tax to keep our poors from getting a new kind of alcoholism and ruining the economy. As to our minister I think we should replace her with Dame Gunther. Her loyalty and political capital will serve to outweigh her inexperience, plus she's close to some of our most fervent supporters. I just love how morally uncrupulous our drug policy is. First we get everyone addicted to those sweet, untaxed drugs and then immediately turn the taxes to maximum. Like, I'm pretty sure that's similar to how actual drug dealers operate.
