Wutang Clan has spoken. Our goals for the year are:

quote:

- Explore our Tula
- Sacrifice for mysteries
- Send gifts to nearby clans (15 goods/cows)
- Raise weaponthanes to 20
- Fortify our Tula.
- Raid the Hendarti

First order of business, exploring!

Hey turns out you don't need to send your clan ring members as part of the exploration party! :v:

Please welcome, Pauline Hanson.

And off she goes! Oh hey, we can already take care of another one of our problems!

Original

The warriors of your clan come to complain. "There are too few warriors now," says Swen, their spokesman. "Our patrols are stretched too thin. We cannot protect all of the land, herds, and people, and the other clans know it. Normally we could train carls to become weaponthanes, but none of the carls are ready yet. We have to go outside the clan. Unless you find more warriors quickly, one of our foes will surely attack us."

We need shrines to the children's gods (3)

Precedent does not forbid us from forgiving outlaws, but we must remember that most such people were outlawed for good reason. (2,3,4,5)

Dragon Pass is too dangerous to ignore the clan's defence. (1,4)

We should go among the other clans and find warriors who already have their own horses. (4)

Swen is a level-headed sort, he's probably right about this. (4,5)

The more time we spend looking, the better candidates we will find. (4)

The carls are afraid of attacks. They want more weaponthanes too. (4,5)

The Macho-Man has spoken, and presents us with an opportunity to correct our weaponthane shortage!

What do we do?
- Act quickly to find new warriors; accept outlaws if necessary.
- Build their morale with an inspirational poem.
- Listen to them, but do nothing.
- Send Koreng on a mission to find the best warriors available.
- Take on new warriors only as qualified candidates come forward.

Something to keep in mind is that Vandarl's recommendation seems to be suggesting that option 4 hires warriors from other clans. This might piss them off if we start "stealing" their weaponthanes by offering better terms.

I think 3 seasons is long enough, 5 means he's out for Sacred Time, and hopefully he'll home back with a bunch of new weaponthanes for us! Saves me spending a turn recruiting them, that's for drat sure.

You know this games pretty boring actually. Like it's a fantasy setting and nothing interesting has happe..

Holy poo poo! Is that guy loving flying?..

While exploring in the north, your exploration party is attacked by a bandit gang led by a powerful shaman named Dorasor. He captures a member of the party and demands and outrageous ransom of 10 cows worth of goods for the explorer Fistivos, who is a carl.

Goddammit. We have lost too many goddamn people already and it's too drat early in the game as it is. I think it's :black101: time!
What does our remaining council have to say?

Our neighbours dislike us. They might be more willing to help Dorasor than to help us. (6)

The proper ransom for a fellow of Fistvos's rank is five cows. (2)

Fistivos is a resourceful fellow; he will escape on his own. (1)
I dunno man, that's a pretty big risk

I have heard of this Dorasor. He has powerful magic. We cannot defeat him without help. (4,5)
As our combat expert, I think it would be wise to heed Vandarl's council

We don't have enough cows to be paying any ransom. (6)
We have 754 cows you penny-pincher!

The other carls will be dispirited if we abandon Fistivos. (3)

We're getting our boy back one way or the other I'll tell you that much! :black101:

- Let Dorasor keep Fistivos
- Offer five cows for his return.
- Pay what Dorasor asks
- Recruit warriors from other clans to join a war party against Dorasor.
- Seek the blessings of your clan spirits before fighting the shaman.
- Send a war party to liberate Fistivos

The clan generally thinks anything less than 800 cows is too little. 900-1000 makes them shut up in general.

You put me in a hole..
Haha! Fantastic.

Off ya go you old so-and-so!

Hey whattayaknow! Old people are good for something every now and then. :corsair:

So I should probably start branching out and improving relations with the neighbours! We owe a favour to Lonisi, and because I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing, Farnan was sent off to again to earn his keep.

Aw man you are just on fire today Farnan!

Wait.

poo poo.

That's bad.
Let's send a caravan out to our trading partners in Blackrock to buy some food.Farnan you're up again.

STOP GOING DOWN!

Did I mention I have no idea what I'm doing? :sparkles:

gently caress alright. Time to call in a favour from Old Owl.. who are are sending.. Oh look it's What's-his-name

Hurray I'm helping!

Just as Whozit is on his way out, Farnan returns!

I think someone just earned an upgrade from his hole to a hermit cave!

Your emissary, Orlgandi, approaches the Old Owls, asking them to make good on a favour they owe you. Orlgandi seeks a gift of food from them. How much food do you ask for?

We're in desperate need of food.
Well thank god you've got your good looks to fall back on brainiac

- Half of the customary amount.
- A little less than custom demands.

Of course you don't have any food, it's the middle of summer. You've mostly eaten up the reserves you've had since last year. Once Earth season rolls around you'll collect the food for this year. Although even then, at most, you will have just enough.

Why does the clan have so many people anyway, was that from the search for farmers? Because good lord, 1000 people is a lot.

We got like 200 people from it, more than half of them worthless children.

Also, stop trading our horses away. Christ.

Bit less than custom demands. With little lucky it will improve our relations and the amount we lose isn't big.
