Yeah, I'm thinking similarly. Already planning to go to the GP if no improvement in another couple of days, just for peace of mind.

The day and a half or so until I could get to a clinic was miserable, but when they sucked that poo poo out of my ear, it was drat near eargasmic.
I see what you did there.

Random thoughts:

My buddy is renting a house a few blocks from mine, my wife and I actually found him the house after attending an estate sale there and talking to the owner - the house nextdoor to it is owned by the same landlord and has been undergoing a restoration (its a 20's craftsman house thats been owned by the same family for nearly 100 years) - the house has a lot of land and a bunch of quirky old outbuildings but is located on a main street... well... the house is vacant and they are having a hard time finding a new tenant because of covid, and the fact that its kinda a quirky old house - aaaaaaaand you can guess what happened, the tweakers broke locks and took up residence in the garage and a few of the out buildings. The landlord has become close with my friend and I over the time that he's been there. My friend has known that there was a tweaker living in a car on the street next to the house, but he did not know that there was such an infestation, combined with the fact that he has not stopped working - he just didn't know - Today the gardeners at the property tipped off the land lord who subsequently called me and asked if me and my friend wanted to go over there tonight and crack some skulls. Needless to say I didn't exactly jump at the chance... with all of the changes going on here in LA, trespassing, drugs and other things that homeless people do have now somewhat become legal... We spoke to a police officer friend of ours that basically said they can escort them off the property, but they cannot take them in to custody or stick around to make sure they dont just walk right back in. What loving planet are we living on? anyone up on squatters rights?

Might be a silly question, but if they cannot arrest for trespassing, is that due to it not being occupied? Maybe get landlord to rent it to your friend for $1 or something and then call cops on them for tresspassing.

Sounds like some lazy rear end cops.
So occupancy doesn't matter for burglary in CA, other than degrees. Like breaking into a house with people in it is worse. The problem with burglary is that it requires either entry for either theft or a felony (any theft is burg with the entry, but other crimes need to be felonies). That said, for arrest, the evidence doesn't need to be beyond a reasonable doubt.
They absolutely can arrest people for trespassing. The problem is, what with covid, is the jails will release them on misdos. But the cops can drive them to men's central to get them away, but they won't. While this sucks, it's basically necessary as the jails have all imposed population caps to make covid spread less fast. FWIW, if we'd passed the no bail proposition, this would have helped a lot because it would have given guidance on whether people should be released rather than just saying "no jail for misdos and minor felonies."

Can they make an arrest the first time? In Florida you have to have a person trespassed first, like officially by police (it's a process), and then they will only get arrested if they come back and the police see them with their own eyes back on the property. It doesn't matter if they came and left and a hundred people saw it, the cops have to see it or it didn't happen.

When I was doing security it was a pain in my rear end because trespassing was probably my biggest problem other than drunk idiots.

Yes, if they're occupying a structure.
For places open to the public (stores, bars, malls, etc), you do need to notify them, but a property closed to the public is different. Though even for that, a simple request is enough to make it a trespass.

I would be very wary of getting involved in that, I don't know what you are/aren't allowed to do, but it sounds like an effective way to end up in a pretty sticky situation yourself.

If the police aren't willing to do anything, I think the property owner would be best served to ask around for someone who engages in this sort of thing more regularly.

Applebees Appetizer

Yeah, if the property owner wants to "crack some skulls" let him do it on his own and don't get involved. It's situations like that that turn out way worse than you thought it would, and next thing you know you're in jail for having a hand in someone getting seriously hurt or killed.
