I had the F-16 MRF/MiG-29 Fulcrum bundle and it was just fun trying to evade missiles and use mavericks without having to worry about heavy sim stuff that Falcon made you do. Plus they were some of the few games that harnessed the power of the VOODOO graphics cards.

I played MiG-29 for hundreds of hours on a drat Sega Genesis. I liked to just play far enough to unlock the nuclear power plant mission and then just blow it up over and over and over.

I used to play this at my uncle's house when I was a kid, but I'd forgotten the name. I only ever did turkey shoot missions though. I might have to see if I can dig up a copy somewhere.

God I loved that game.

It's funny how I have to squint to make out a plane out of those 3 pixels, and back when I was a kid it was totally immersive

I was stuck at a family friend's house one time as a kid and the only console there was a sega saturn. And the only game for it was Tomcat Alley. I've never seen an FMV game prior to this so I had no idea how to play it. I kept pressing buttons thinking something would happen but no matter what was happening on the screen it would cut to a shot of a phoenix missile being fired followed by the game telling me I failed.

Is it for all planes? Maybe the plane uses a custom GPS that needs to be updated separately?

Nope regular stock gps.. apparently xp11 has some a separate for it's gps data vs it's map data

So the RealAir installers for their Dukes and their Legacy have been updated to P3D4. Exciting bit is that keys aren’t needed to run the installers.

Once again, weird reasoning from flightsimmers.

I have paid for their products previously, why would I feel the need to keep other people from enjoying the planes now that the company has closed down?

tater_salad
Sep 15, 2007

Because flight simmers are autists and think that if they paid everyone should pay even if the company exists.

I'm surprised realair didn't have some kind of backend key verification that closes down everyones plans since they are out or business. THAT is how I expect the flight simulator world to work.

Yeah, kudos are in place for RealAir. Their products are great and how they are handling going out of business is a nice surprise.

Here's the thing though....

Vaccines cause autism. Vaccines are mandatory for most Americans except those with a religious waiver. Therefore America is autism?

But seriously good job realair for not sucking and doing something flight simmy like removing all planes from use.

After two years away from civilian flight simming, I’m feeling the urge to nip back in. I’ve been running FSX steam edition for which I have the most addona and Dovetail’s flight sim (RIP) before weening off. I don’t really want to go back to FSX, so I’m left with either Prepar3d or XPlane. I do E-jest mostly - which sim do you guys recon has the best perspectives to go in and start buying stuff for?

If I were to pick one platform from scratch now, I'd go for XPlane 11. It's pretty active with former P3D developers also starting to make add-ons for it. There are good tubeliners for XP also these days, if that's your bag. And I have found that you can get a lot more great stuff for free on XP. Especially scenery-wise.

And it's a legally consumer product. If you are an EULA :spergin: and don't want to use the P3D Education version for FORBIDDEN FUN!

I don't have the latest version of either, so I can't give a hands-on opinion.

I do have current versions of it all.

Pmdg is still the best for 737, 747, 777. The ixeg 737 for xplane is functional but not to the level of pmdg. If you want that, fsx or p3d.

Weather addons: fsx only for now. Active sky is coming for xplane soon?

Scenery: google maps photo tile sets are available for both. Orbx is gorgeous but $ and limited areas. The free scenery for xplane is pretty incredible and night vfr flying xplane is so much better. The lights are great.

GA aircraft both have really good ones but xplane has better and the stock Baron is really really good.

So yeah. I fly mostly GA and xplane is a no brainer for me. But I keep fsx installed so I can use pmdg if I feel like it.

No matter which I choose the most important addon is pilotedge.
